bigjon I don't think the BX-6 supports 256MB sticks. The BE6-2 does though. As for the Dell, no idea because I'm fairly certain some of them require proprietary RAM.

BTW did a little research and these use both sides of the PCB so they are compatible with most newer intel boards (the cheap 256m deals we have been seeing lately use the hi density ram chips which only use one side of the PCB, that's why there only athlon compatible) http://www.valueram.com/datasheets/kvr100x64c2_256.pdf

I'm in wooohooo, thanks for the deal. Now I can sell the 128 MB that I just got from Egghead.

If I plan on upgrading later from my Athlon Classic 500/K7M combo to a KT133 scheme, will this RAM work well at 133 and CAS 2? In other words, will I be able to use this RAM on my new system or am I going to have to buy new PC133. I wouldn't be doing any FSB overclocking in the new system, just a T-Bird with a different clock multiplier.

What is the speed decrease of 100MHz memory compared to 133 bus RAM?
I hv the Intel D815E 133 mboard and P3 733 133, so no overclocking for me.
So far I'm running on PNY 128MB 133.
Understand that my system will drop down to 100MHz, but is this so bad?

Perhaps its not so a bad a situation. I think your bus is automatically set at 133MHz and if from what I hear (not from what i know) that ValueRAM can be Overclocked to 133MHz, no problem, you can just stick it in there becase your bus is automatically 133MHz.
So you effectively overclock, just without changing any settings in the BIOS.

People still Overclock fixed bus intel board, just by putting a 100MHz CPU in a 133MHz board.

Beware that there are a whole host of Gateway and Dell motherboards (made by Intel, but installed by them, you know what I mean) that can't handle 256 meg sticks. In fact, there are only a couple models that will. Check www.gateway.com and www.dell.com for specs on your motherboard.

All of gateway's AMD boards can handle this.
