I just got an email from cowboom telling me that the item was listed incorrectly as "factory sealed' when it is really in "like new" condition and is tested working. They will either issue a refund or ship the product for you.

Same. Decided to keep it.

Me too. I figured I was gonna modify it anyway so it didn't matter.

I got the same email (two emails from different cowboom addresses, actually). I've decided to keep mine, too.

I hope these things were actually tested and not just luck-of-the-draw units. I'd rather void my warranty with a dd-wrt install instead of having to deal with returning a DOA unit.

gbuskirk, I didn't read much at the following link, but you may be able to hack the WRTU54G-TM a little:

You are probably better off buying something else that is a little more hack friendly.

Yes, that was the newer model that some TM stores tried to sell instead of the older model posted by OP.

As MisterE indicated, you can modify the newer model's firmware using open GPL source provided by Linksys. Here's a link in case someone buys this newer model. The new model on 1saleaday is Factory Refurbished.

Got mine today. It was clear it had been used as the recent update by email mentioned. No problem, just a bit dusty. I set out on flashing it to DD-WRT and everything worked great. What a find. Now I have a solid router to use whenever I move out.

I received my unit and it, too, was a little dusty but fully functional. I flashed it with dd-wrt, and took this opportunity to upgrade my other dd-wrt devices to the most current version.
