This looks to be an Orinoco Wavelan Silver - probably one of the better 802.11b wifi pcmcia cards out there. I'll confirm when I receive it.

Shipping was $10.50 (I got two) for second day UPS.

UPDATE: I got the cards and they are not Orinoco models - they are Proxim Harmony...as people mentioned below, they don't have an antenna jack. I don't know if there is any other difference, but the reception is much better than my crappy Linksys card, so for $15 I'm happy.

It doesn't look like an Orinoco Silver to me. On my Orinoco Silver, the black plastic part (the part that sticks out of the PC CARD slot) is thicker than the rest of the card. It's a great deal if it's an Orinoco Silver, though.

I'd like to mention that I've never had a problem with Tiger Direct. If you are weary then just order with a credit card. If you don't get your merchandise and the vendor is unwilling to help you then just take it up with your credit card company. I've *always* had good luck with that...even for stuff paid for with PayPal.

Of course, YMMV.

Doesnt look like Orinoco to me either. No antenna jack, not extra thick at the outside end, etc.

edit: Who ever gets one, please post some info once you have it set up etc and let us know what model, firmware etc it is. Also its worth upgrading to the most recent 8.72 Orinoco client firmware.

I have only ordered once from Tiger Direct, with no problems. Even with a rebate. I have heard bad things about them, but they seem to be getting better. If this really is an Orinocco card then this is hot. Can anyone confirm this? I am also thinking about this: 5 port Gigafast Switch for free after $20.00 MIR.

I saw some of this on Ebay and asked one of the sellers. It is Orinoco Card. But it has NO EXT ANTENNA JACK. Maybe a old version, I think.

Yep, this is not the Orinoco card that everyone wants. The good one has a square head, whereas this one is rounded.

Yeah, this must be the new Orinoco Silver, without the external antenna jack. Not such a deal then, considering you can usually get a Gold from Dell for $35

This still seems like a decent deal. Not Orinocco Gold, but $15 is reasonable. I am going to give it a try. If anyone gets this, post your results.

So totally true!
TD are the biggest scumbags there are and still spam millions with their unwanted bad/refurbished/repaired-declared-as-new junk.

I see that their "i am here to help" (ro-)bot has come to this board too. Now he says "I will do my best to ensure your full satisfaction.".
We had to sue them (like many of those "10,000 orders per day" people we were VERY dissatisfied with their "we are here to take care of our customers" service.


Simply stay away from them, whatever however "deal" there is.

Hi Bruce, I don't like to thread crap on other's hotdeals, but here http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=40&threadid=1082718&FTVAR_MSGDBTABLE= was the last hot wireless deals at tiger direct thread. It seemed like a decent deal, and the webpage did say that they went though a "rigorous 7 point inspection." I'm not sure what happened to my inspection but I got 3 out of 4 products that were completely broken. They also had the prior owners receipts ( i think both were from comp usa) and the letters to the rma department explaining in what way the items were defective. Certainly I would think such papers would be discarded in even a pretty lazy inspection process. Anyway I did eventually get a refund on the items and the shipping but it took arguing with the csr's for that and more arguing to get them to send me a call tag for the defective goods. In short the products were not as advertised and your company was far less than apologetic about it. This certainly isn't contrary to other stories I heard, but I decided to give tiger direct a shot and got burned.
