Is this promo code good for all the different versions (notebook/desktop kits) or is it only good for the bare drive linked?

I have it(the bare drive) in my paypal cart right now with all the info filled out...Just waiting for someone to answer my question before I click the submit button.
I'm not going to bother trying to remove it from my cart now to experiment which could lead me to an OOS status message.

No, it's only valid with the 256gb 830 (bare drive).

PS I hope early orders don't get delayed for 48 hours like the 128GB 830 deal two weeks ago...

Edit: Edit: Woot! No delays this time, just hit charged/packaging

The code does not work with the desktop/laptop models. Mines Packaging too w00t!

As much as I "thought" that I wanted two of these to RAID 0, I just couldn't stand the buyers remorse and cancelled my order. I feel better now.....ahhhhhhhh.

Edit: Went back and placed another order.....decided again to cancel but it was too late. LOL....I guess I'm either keeping them or refusing delivery!

I'm wondering the same thing. Just hopped on this deal to upgrade my Intel x25-m, and thought I could use the trial version of Acronis True Image. Well, they were a step ahead of me - of course cloning is disabled in the trial.

Edit: I think I'm going to try Macrium Reflect FREE: http://download.cnet.com/Macrium-Re...5728.html?tag=dropDownForm;productListing;pop

Macruim Reflect works fine with one issue...it will only create a partition on the new drive the same size as the original. You'll then need to go into Management, Disk Management of Windows 7 and extend the partition out to cover the entire size of the drive.

Not sure what happens with Macruim if the source drive is larger than the destination drive. I've not tried it.

That sounds fine to me. I'm going from a smaller drive to a larger drive, and I've used Disk Management before to extend partitions.

Since I'm going from an SSD to an SSD, I assume I don't have to worry about alignment, correct?

Not sure about that. I always connect the drive up and format it with Windows 7 (either eSATA or external USB docking station). The alignment is correct when I do it that way and then I simply do a disk clone (or whatever it's called) and it has always worked fine (copying from both an SSD and a HD to a SSD).

Thanks, that's what I'll do.

Macrium will shrink a partition as long as the data is less than the size of the destination..

I've used it many times...

please let me know how it goes.
I just clicked buy.
my old drive is a 60GB

I only have the os on it and do full image backups of it once a month
(NO REALLY EVERY MONTH,,,,,UH EVERY MONTH I REMEMBER TO DO IT LOL)
been doing this since I used HD with a small primary partition to keep the images small
Saved my ARSE several times
I have true image but its sooooo much bloat ware and 3 programs constantly running I uninstalled that POS and using easeus
I need to look and see if it does full clones across drives.
IF not Macrium Reflect dl here I come.

ps acronis make a stand alone run this only program for backups and I will buy again.
BUT after constant emails with your staff and hearing about the cloud till my ears burned #$%^&*$#$^%$^&%$^&#$%^

I would be getting 2 of those if I hadn't recently bought a 2nd Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 240 for RAID 0 ...

Awesome !

Damn, this is temping to get two of these and RAID them up. Anyone know if these do well without TRIM (garbage collection maybe?)?

Working great for me, but I'm anxiously awaiting the 11.5 Intel RAID drivers, which support TRIM.

Here's my AS SSD Benchmark

I knew that there was an announcement for these driver quite some time ago but after reading around, it seems that these may only work for certain motherboards or certain chipset boards (no P67?!?!).

I haven't kept up since a cursory search for them when I built my system.... shouldn't they work for any Intel chipset? I'm running a Z68 motherboard (ASUS P8Z68-V PRO Gen3).

Even without TRIM support, I think the worse that you might need to do is have your PC sit idle on the BIOS setup for a few hours every month or so and let the SSD's firmware do the job.

I paid a lot more for my Samsung 830s, but I'm very happy with the setup. I built this to replace my older machine, which had 2x60GB OCZ Agility SSDs in RAID-0 (I've since split those up and use the old machine as an ESXi server booting from one of the Agility drives).

I'm surprised this deal didn't sell out, guess Newegg had a big stock or not that many people purchased this.
