He should be able to read whatever he wants on his own time, but he should also abide by the UCMJ. As far as attacks on Christianity, I'm not seeing it. There's a difference in asking people not to proselytize and attacking them for their religion.

Well, you have to define what an attack on Christianity is. If it's questioning the tenets, even very strongly, I have no problem with that. Anyone of true faith should be able to handle harsh criticism without losing their cool. If someone is uncomfortable discussing their beliefs, I take that as a sign of insecurity in those beliefs. Maybe I'm weird.
I have no problem with the legalization of public displays of faith, so long as they are equally protected. Want to put up a Christmas tree at your desk? Fine. So long as Jews can put up Menorahs of equivalent "flare" (best word I can think of). Same for Muslims, Wiccans, and Atheists. Either everyone can, or no one can. To me it doesn't matter which one.
