Well, I decided to place my order online so no one could tell me it was out of stock. I called up and tried to pricematch it and it wasn't in the computer yet and she told me to call back in a few hours. I'll try calling back in maybe 20 minutes.

Well, I just called and talked with a rep and she said that they can't pricematch that item unless they physically talk with someone at EMSComputing on the phone to verify that they are offering free shipping because their websites sometimes aren't correct! So she said she can't look at the website at all to verify this as they just verified yesterday that there was a shipping charge. I told her that it says 'free shipping today only' and she said that there's nothing that they can do.

Has anyone else had this problem with Staples at all???? So I couldn't pricematch at all!! So I asked her how long I had to cancel the order and she said don't want longer than tomorrow. Looks like I'll be canceling the order.

She just took my number and said she'd call me back because they're having trouble trying to verify the pricematch. I'm having trouble also trying to get to my EMSComputing cart to verify the shipping and stuff.

I've called up a total of four times for the two different deals and I got shot down a total of two times. So I had a 50% success rate.

Here's what i tried to do (I'm exhausted!):

I tried to price match Staples for an Antec 430W PSU and Antec 1035(w 350W) tower
Staples: $230 EMS:$150
Pricematch $142 + Inkjet paper to put me over $150 +tax - $30 coupon
$128 for:
Antec 1035(w/350W PSU) case
Antec 430w PSU 1
1000 sheets inkjet paper

Looked good "on paper"!

When I mentioned EMS as the price match site the Rep knew it was for a case and told me i had to wait until Monday for a supervisor and that the price difference was too much for authorization! We had a nice chat (by then I knew it wasn't happening). Staples is stalling on the 1-day shipping waiver! He then asked if I had intentions of using a coupon. Of course, I said. Got the ol' "we can't do pricematch AND coupon", anyway, routine. We know better.

Final Score: Staples: 1 gonzo2k: 0 An effin' soccer game! I'll get 'em next time!

Picked up the Antec SX-830 for $59.00/shipped "so it wouldn't be a total loss"!

Enuff is enuff!


BTW: Notice on the Staples site the description for the Antec SX-835 is that it has a 300W PSU (that would make it an SX-830)-the pricematch plot thickens! If the SX-835 is REALLY an SX-830, then 110% pricematch would make it $55.00 + tax - $10.00 off $40.....approx. $48.00. (medicate me!!!)

UPDATE: Just got off the phone with Staples for round #2: Called again for the Antec 430w PSU @99.95 pricematched to EMS $76 and change- she told me Staples price was less... $89.95....Pricematch adjusted to $75.49 I dropped the $15 off $75 coupon on her to bring final transaction (tax included) to just under $65.00/shipped!!!

I'll second that. The first time I called (for the first case) she told me that they can't pricematch when the amount is more than $40 and said she'd have to get TWO supervisors to check off on it and then they'd call me back tomorrow. Tomorrow came but a call didn't. So I called back and got someone else and she said that they can't do a pricematch + coupon. I told her that they darn well could as it's on their pricematching FAQ webpage(I'll post the link to that page at the end of this post). So she put me on hold and came back and said they could so she did it and said a manager would have to approve it. ok sounds good. Next thing I know two days later UPS was at my door and there it was.

OK now for the second case. The first call I told her where I was pricematching to and she said that they couldn't give me free shipping because they just called there yesterday and they said shipping was $19.80. I told her to go to the site and look. She said she had to talk to someone ON THE PHONE from the place and that no one answered. I told her that the deal would be gone by the time Monday came and she said that there was nothing that she could do. GRRRRRRR so I called back later and got someone else and she said she was having trouble trying to get to the site and that she'd call me back when she got the pricematch. She called me back 10 minutes later and said she was crediting my CC for the pricematch. And that was it.

Persistance pays off is the moral of the story.

This is a kick ass case.I ordered one a few days ago and waiting for it to arrive.The weight on the case is like 31-34 pounds..LOL.Its solid construction with 2 rear fans,side door fan,drive rails,front USB and firewire connectors and a True Antec 430 watt dual fan power supply.How can you beat that,this case rocks!.Just make sure you get a front case fan or 2 cause its optional if you need one.The reviews I read said this case run's cooler and is pretty quiet.The Antec True Power Supply series has 2 "FAN ONLY" connectors that can control the fans' speeds according to the temperature the PS reads. It's like a temperature sensing fan in the PS, only now you can control up to 3 fans as per the manufacturer's suggestion.You can power many more fans on the regular 12V+ and GND lines.

I'm in the process of ordering fans for it (SVC has great prices on NMB, Panaflo, and Vantec fans...I'll probably just flip a coin) and need to know if I need to order any screws (how lame). When looking at pics of the case, it looks like the fans just pop in those little square thingies and no screws are required.

I have the 1040 (same generation as the 1030). The fans just pop into the slots so you don't need any screws (I don't have a side fan, so no idea about that).

I will get 1080B from staples, 660AMG and 880 from EMS.
Right now I have 830, 1040B and 288.
The difference between PLUS and SX are power supply and front-access USB/Firewire.
Antec rules!

who has experience with AMG color? Is it similar to black? I have a 1040B, the only problem is very difficult to get the black/grey drive.

those staples BS CSR won't allow me PM ems on the case 'cause they are OOS. Looks like I have to get one from EMS.

Btw, what is the difference between AMG and B? I assume B is darker than AMG. Please help 'cause time is running out.
