Personally I use Hostdime.com. They are a Florida company based in Orlando. I like the fact that they are in my home state. They are pretty good. No MAJOR outages "yet". But with hosting companies they all have their ups and downs.

sorry, needed to add the home state part since in another post some guy said I was spamming because I posted that I liked a vendor in my same city. sheesh, I like saving on shipping. geeez

The only annoying thing for me is the web-site statistics. They used to have "awstats" -- which was wonderfully informative.... but.... it turned out it had security issues. Now awstats is a banned product on hostpc.

Awstats now is standard issue on every domain (installed securely server wide)

My hostpc site has now been down for 3 days with only the message below displayed:

"This account has been suspended.
Either the domain has been overused, or the reseller ran out of resources."

The www.hostpc.com is also unavailable so no way of getting my site email or getting in touch to complain and no email to explain either.

Posting here as it looks as though Joe reads this forum so if so - wazzzupp!!!!!!

PS Sorry to post here but seemed relevant given some of the other comments!

hostpc.com doesn't have a quota - so it's impossible to get any such message ...

Our helpdesk is at http:/helpdesk.hostpc.com

email support is Joe AT hostpc.com

Something strange here Joe cos I'm STILL getting this message:

This account has been suspended.
Either the domain has been overused, or the reseller ran out of resources.

and I can't acces your site or helpdesk and haven't been able to do so for 3 days now

I've also tried emailing you re this using that email address and no response to that either. I'll try again now

It's possible on YOUR site ... but ours is up and running. Please open a helpdesk ticket, or email me directly to resolve... try hostpc@gmail.com if the above one won't work - or PM me your domain name.

I have been through my provider (NTL) and they can't access www.hostpc.com from their Indian call centre either!

I'll pm you now ( have emailed again as well)

Well I would do Joe but when I try and send it this site says user doesn't want to receive private messages !!!

Works for me, too (Chicago, IL)...email and several websites on different HostPC servers are all up. Argboy, is it possible your ISP is caching? That could be the problem.

Seems to me that if a host can't deal with someone as reasonable as dchakrab they need to do some rethinking.

The "customer is always wrong" attitude of HostPC is a very interesting business model. I'm sure it helps keep things under control in a difficult business where lots of customers are up to no good - but it can be tough if you're actually not one of those.

Still can't acess www.hostpc.com from UK via three different ISPs/machines across UK ( Wales, England and Scotland) including dialup and broadband. There's gotta be something up.

Any forum members located outside US who fancy trying to access www.hostpc.com and posting how they get on?

My web site reinstated after paying my bill is now not accessible again. If I try and ping that or hostpc from my machine I get no response at all although Joe can trace back to me.

Weird!

I still can't access my website or hostpc.com and have not received a reply to my last 2 emails to joe hence resorting to posting here - hopefully this will get a response.

In the meantime I've had to change my own website DNS to the domain host in the UK so I can at least get emails redirected!!!!

Oh really? How do you know I wasn't communicating with the customer through email (as I gave him above) - rather than discuss helpdesk issues in a public, non related forum? It hardly seemed relevent to this thread.

In fact, we did make contact, and I believe that the customer is fully able to resolve their site at this point (haven't heard any differently from them yet)

I've had HostPC for about 2 years now, and the service has been EXCELLENT.

EXCELLENT.

I have had all problems resolved within MINUTES. Have been upgraded to a newer server. They have continously upgraded their offerings. Have upgraded my service...on a WEEKEND HOLIDAY. All in all, their service will keep around for many years, and if anyone I know asks me who to get, they are who I recommend.

Sorry Joe as far as this customer is concerned I am still unable to access hostpc.com from UK via range of ISPs dialup anbd broadband and my website still isn't working!

I've sent several emails to joe AT hostp.com and hostpc AT gmail.com since Friday and received no response.

I've resorted to paying for a new host for my website on a month's trial until I can get mine up and running. To be fair my other sites with hostpc seem to be fine at the moment and I DON'T want the hassle of swapping provider but without access to support or Helpdesk don't know what else to do!!

Are either of the amail addresses you quoted before working now?

NB Just tried to acces www.hostpc.com now and getting this new message:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Yep, they're both working - and I just got an email from you @ hostpc.com address too - so you ARE seeing the server, not sure where you're having the issue...

Hotsp.com ... try hostpc.com

There's no restrictions on the server that would limit your access - and we've not had _any_ other complaints from UK or EU clients
