Since I just tracked a lot of traffic to my site from this thread, I thought I'd come back and update my review again, since it seems people are still stopping by to read this.
I had a few hiccups with HostPC in the middle, and I think their helpdesk support has gotten a little worse as they've grown larger. We had a few misunderstandings as well.
However, on the whole, I think they're a great place to go for hosting for 99% of the people reading this thread. I'd say their attitude is sometimes to offer me a refund if I want to leave rather than try to solve my problems or look into them, but this is only in the case of repeating, high-level problems that aren't easy to troubleshoot, many of them due to factors beyond HostPC's control (DirectAdmin screwups, for example). Keep in mind, I've got a ton of sites at HostPC, and I'm planning to keep most of them there...in all likelihood, this is the only hosting company you'll need till you upgrade to dedicated. My hiccups with HostPC may have been due to my getting close to the upgrade point as much as to their growing pains.
All in all, I'd recommend them to anyone who needs something less than dedicated hosting. I haven't used their dedicated hosting, so I can't comment on that. For shared, the price / quality level / support / features can't be beat, even if you don't get in on a sale.
Original review follows:

This company was recommended to me by Rossman a few years ago, and I've had nothing but great experiences with them ever since: HostPC
Current pricing: $35 per year for
# 1 GB disk space
# 10000 MB data transfer/month
# 50 POP3/IMAP Mail Accounts
# 6 Add On Domains
Right now, they have a 2 for 1 promotion (they have several of these throughout the year) where you get double quotas on bandwidth and disk space for the same price, so double the values I listed above (not sure if this applies to add on domains / email). 30 day money back guarantee if you don't like it.
Pricing is very, very hard to beat, but their service levels and attention to clients is first-class...better than I've had with much higher-priced hosts. It's also relatively easy to talk to Joe, the owner of the company, so escalation's never been a problem...usually their helpdesk gets Joe or a higher-level tech to answer questions that they can't handle, so I've never once had to ask for escalation. If you've dealt with budget hosting companies before, you'll know that this is somewhat rare.
Click here for my full HostPC Review It basically outlines my experiences with HostPC over the past couple of years, during which I've hosted several sites with them (including the one that review is posted to) and recommended them to several satisfied clients. They advertise only through word-of-mouth, so pretty much all of their clients are satisfied customers who know other satisfied customers.
Hope this helps...if you're a small business or nonprofit looking for hosting, HostPC's a great place to start.
Dave.
