80% is awesome and great...but $500 every year or so is not going to kill you. If you are seriously saving that much money--not making one or three big purchases each year, you will be able to retire most comfortably and still vacation well at least once per year.

Costa Rica is nice. However, I'd suggest Peru. Tourism in the country is still recovering from last year's floods so should be more economical than normal. Spend some time in Lima, Cusco/Machu Picchu, and hit one of the lodges in the rain forest region if you can (Iquitos). I did those spots last year and it was an amazing trip - Iquitos is like nowhere else I've ever been.

Peru is my next big goal. (probably will do Panama or Belize first, though).

Way too much time seeing Europe, I really need to spend more time in this hemisphere.

the sex slave industry is everywhere and it is terrible, but the general idea is that with Amsterdam, prostitution is so highly regulated that you have much fewer problems with the trade.

I live 30 min from SF, 15 min from wine country, and 30 seconds from an In & Out Burger. I have a 3 bedroom house and would let you stay in the guest room if you provide the hookers and beer for the duration of your stay.

Solo vacation

I'm planning to go on a vacation by myself in the beginning of December since I have quite a few vacation days to use before the end of the year. The problem is that I don't know where to visit. Would preferably not have to rent a car for the duration of the trip. I've ruled out NYC (been many times) and Chicago (too f'n cold).

Any suggestions?
