Solo vacation

For those who say Vegas, what does one do during the day that is not gambling? Keep in mind that I won't be lounging by the pool in December and no hookers&blow

Helicopter trip to see the Grand Canyon.
Rent a dune buggies or ATV and go out into the desert.
See the Hoover Dam.
Spa at your hotel.
Golf.

I've had my fill of the GOM this year so I don't want to do a cruise.

How about Denver? Is it easy to get around without a car?

NW is great, I would say Seattle over Portland though, Portland gets snow (Seattle can but when they do the city shuts down), plan on 40 degree days though.

Vegas is booming all year round, there is stuff to do even if you don't gamble, but for me I get bored there after 2 days.

Denver you will want a car. December is total hit or miss for temps here, I've seen it be 60 degrees then -11 the next week, September is Colorado's best month.

I don't have many ideas, but here goes

Ft Lauderdale or the Key's - Scuba/snorkel/surf sports/golf
San Fran - Alcatraz at night/trip to Monterrey/many city activities
Don't know if you are willing to go international but Costa Rica is amazing, motorcycle tours, eco adventures, water sports, CHEAP

There is plenty to do on a ship, the most important the people.

Venetian or Palazzo or Bellagio (interchangable)

The Wynn is pricey, but the lounge there Blush is sickening. I dropped about 600 in an hour.

I live 30 min from SF, 15 min from wine country, and 30 seconds from an In & Out Burger. I have a 3 bedroom house and would let you stay in the guest room if you provide the hookers and beer for the duration of your stay.

While normally I do staycations (so happy they have a name in this economy), I'd say being on only 3 real ones is sort of sad.

What do you do for a living? Any skills to upgrade?

My last 4 years haven't had a vacation outside our home due to too many animals.

Next year I am going to Japan for a month. Hiring a live-in animal sitter.

That said I love my stay at home vacations.

Go to Central America. I went on a solo vacation last December for two weeks to Costa Rica. Super inexpensive trip and I had the best time of my life.

Costa Rica is nice. However, I'd suggest Peru. Tourism in the country is still recovering from last year's floods so should be more economical than normal. Spend some time in Lima, Cusco/Machu Picchu, and hit one of the lodges in the rain forest region if you can (Iquitos). I did those spots last year and it was an amazing trip - Iquitos is like nowhere else I've ever been.

haha ill probably be so feeble i wont be able to walk (plus all the gold will weight me down)

plus part of it is i only get 2 weeks of vacation so that doesnt leave very much time

my hope is that i can save up enough and retire maybe early enough to have some fun, who knows if thatll pan out though

Fuck that, I do save a decent amount each year but try to get on maybe 4 vacations. This year it was just 3, florida for 4 days, dallas for a week, and going to Mexico for a week. As its my first time getting a passport I wanna go somewhere else in january/february.

I'm planning to go on a vacation by myself in the beginning of December since I have quite a few vacation days to use before the end of the year. The problem is that I don't know where to visit. Would preferably not have to rent a car for the duration of the trip. I've ruled out NYC (been many times) and Chicago (too f'n cold).

Seriously, learn how to have fun. Do something out of character. Don't be afraid to try something you didn't "plan." Enjoying life shouldn't be saved til retirement.
