An item worthy of note is that all 4 SATA ports are on the NF4 chipset and HT bus and not some crappy SI or Promise add-on chip.

1000 HTT.

Soltek waited to come out with their nf4 board so I expect a lot of bugs to already have been worked out. I'll order one as soon as they are available. Chinese capacitors or not.

I run with 1000HTT on my Soltek K8AN2E-GR (NF3-250Gb). It's a slick board, I'd imagine this one is also.

Neoseeker study to AMD 64 overclocking show that the HT speed is not that much important.. be it 600, 800 or 1000. Marketing is to blame... Bigger the numbers, better it should be.

Did you quote the wrong post? I'm not sure what my post has to do with HTT speed. But yes, you are correct. Maybe one day HTT speed will help out more.

Oh and I found a typo on my post, I meant on the HT bus. And that is important as HTT offers more bandwidth over the already PCI bus.

Only 2 PCI slots with one possibly blocked by the video card could be a problem, as well as the use of the nForce4 chipset (instead of nForce4 Ultra).

Also:
"According to our sales representative, the SL-NF4-754RL & SL-NF4Pro-939 will be available in NewEgg after 2~3 weeks."

What does the ultra have? SLI? or the other way around?

"The nForce4 Ultra is identical to the SLI version in every way, but of course there is no SLI support. Given that the majority of users out there are not all that interested in SLI, the nForce4 Ultra is an ideal product for the mainstream market."

We'll just have to see what the price is I guess.

I'm still miffed that they used a Promise chip on my K8AN2E-GR to get SATA3 and 4 even though the chipset supports 4 SATA ports natively. I'm glad they got their act straight for this board.

None of the nForce4 chipsets support 1394, this is gone since the MCP-T (nForce2).

The vanilla nForce4 is only missing SATAII and ActiveArmor support compared to the Ultra. It does have Gigabit. In addition to SATAII and ActiveArmor the SLI chipset supports SLI, but Soltek is not going to use it for any board.

Macro2, it's PCI Express or PCI-E, PCI-X is a different beast.
I don't like to use the slot below the video card for cooling reasons, but only high-end cards with dual-slot cooling will actually block it.

For some reason a lot of companies chose to ignore the 2 SATA ports of the nForce3 that require an external PHY. In fact, MSI and DFI are the only ones that used them from the top of my head (s754 boards).

Are you sure? My board has a 1394 port on it.

The 1394 support is not provided by the chipset, it's on the PCI bus just like the extra Gigabit port and the Silicon Image SATA ports.

Well, i don't expect to use high end video. Maybe a 6600gt. Won't use sata II either.
When I see the board I'll know more...maybe the specs will be slightly different.

I'll bet it will overclock like crazy though.

PS...whats active armor?

It's cheap, but it doesn't have SATA2, and the PCI-E 16x slot is so far down on the board that I imagine GPU cooling will suffer.

Everything I've read up til now shows that SATA2 is really only beneficial in servers and that workstation and gaming suffers when it's used.

Yeah, considering it's still ATX format the placement of the videocard's slot is weird. And if you were to use a DHES solution to cool the card you'll likely block at least half the available PCI slots (there's only 2 to begin with).

The video slot is interesting. I wonder why they did that.
OTOH, I don't need a honker video card and the price is ridiculously cheap for a full featured nforce4 board.

$99 for a quality board.
