Solved: DFI LanParty KT400 Trouble

I just put together this system (so empty hard drive, brand new parts except for RAM. But I just took it out of a system that works so that's not the problem I'm sure), and it boots up very slowly. No error messages, but takes about 5-10 times longer to detect the drives and move on to the next screen. I've tried just about everything in BIOS but I can't get the outcome to change. I'm just trying to install windows now, but it won't even get past the "Setup is detecting your system settings..." prompt. Why is it so slow?

If you are up to a heavy troubleshoot, Clear the CMOS, boot barebones, check that the drives are jumpered correctly, perhaps try the other IDE controller, and switch cables so you can take all that out of the mix. I'd also leave the LAN cable unplugged, disable everything in the bios you don't intend to use, in my case that's anything to do with stuff like com, midi, parallel ports, floppy, and if your installing XP or win2000 leave the PnP OS bios option on NO. I'd also put the new HDD in another system and run chkdsk or your favorite drive diagnostic utility on it to make certain it's alright if you can't get things straightened out. It sounds like a HDD or other drive issue holding things up but who knows? Oh, You may have already done so but definitely read the manual You can shoot their tech support a e-mail too.

Thanks. Well I figured it out and it was the jumpers on the HD. Wasn't on CS for some reason.

also note that it DOES have a long delay in the boot time...I thought when I first got this board there was a problem, but it just takes a while for everything to initialize, after that its pretty fast =)
