Question [Solved] How to install 3.5 HDD in the back storage/fan/radiator bracket of the Asus Tuf GT502

Hey Guys;

I have Asus Tuf GT502 case as per their manual the back bracket has multiple uses for a radiator up to 360 or installation of three 120 fans or three 3.5 HDD or 2.5 SSD. I tries to install three 3.5 10tb WD Black HDD. But the holes are not matching. And the manual is very limited in illustrations. Any ideas?

Maybe the wd has the enterprise holes. Try flipping it around or just use two screws instead of four. Some cases allow for the bracket to be pulled out for easier mounting. When I doubt zip ties work as well.

The WD Black HDD has the upper and bottom 2 mounting holes but not the middle ones. The case uses a plate to to mount the 3.5 HDD.

Which I believe attaches to the bracket as seen below.

The holes at the end don't match.

So, yeah, use two screws and be done with it.

I use a fractal Meshify 2 case that has that top slide out mount for fans as well but, for drives it has this tower thing that holds 13 drives mounted to plates and then mounts to the tower with a tab and thumb screw.

If you can't mount it how you want there's probably other areas in the case to put the drives that might be more secure. 2 screws is enough to hold it in place the only thing that might be an issue is vibrations during operation that might make some noise.

Think in terms of fabrication, drilling holes, making brackets, etc. If there is physical space for them, it can be done even if you have to buy some sheet aluminum and a metal brake to bend out what you need... been there, done that.

Measure twice, cut once. Here is a 1999 fabbed HDD rack for an OEM case that originally only had mounting vertically for 1-2 (with crappy airflow), with some space between drives for airflow and front pusher fans.

Oh some hdd's have a weird hole spacing for the bottom on 3.5's.
But these are mostly seen on enterprise class drives.

Im going to ask a really dumb question, but have you tried rotating the mounting plate 90 degree's and seeing if the holes allign that way? Unless its a Enterprise class drive, which are mostly SAS to begin with, the holes should be universal, so the plate might not be orientated properly.

Yes, I tried every possible orientation.

Solution Taken: Made a 3D Print of a HDD holder and used a UHU all purpose adhesive to attach the HDD holder. Plus add cable ties incase the adhesive is not enough or gets affected by the heat.
