Hey everyone I purchased a barebone kit from tigerdirect (hot deal was posted here http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2109125 ) and months later came to realise that the motherboard supports RAM of 1.5 volts yet the kit included RAM that runs at 1.65 volts.

EDIT: I just googled this and found my own thread here plus this one, solved on a different board:

http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=470582

What that means is that the MB will support the indicated speeds and amount starting from 1.5v and up.

Great news I still haven't tried it but I will and let everyone know how it goes. I will say that I discovered that the Nvidia Video Card driver that Windows 7 was offering to me as a "Optional Update" was actually crashing my machine. I went to NVIDIA's website and selected my particular onboard card from the list, installed the software, and I now have a decent uptime. I might reformat just in case nvidia's old drivers left some files on the hard drive.

Code:
Operating System Platform:«Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate» UpTime:«1 Day 9 Hours 33 Minutes 42 Seconds» Record UpTime:«1 Day 9 Hours 31 Minutes 20 Seconds»
P.S. My RAM timings are correctly set.

Hopefully this helps someone.
Take care,

J5

the label on the ram should tell you the recommended voltage.. does it say 1.5 on the label or something else.. ?

If it say 1.5.. look up the model of RAM and check with the manufacturer to see the max voltage those sticks can handle.. Some RAM can be bumped without issues, others could have an issue...

Run MEMTEST is you suspect a ram issue... run it for at least 5 or 10 passes... and then if no errors come up, you can assume that the BSOD is related to some other issue ...

Sorry maybe I worded that a little strange. What I meant was that the RAM is set in bios to run at 1.5 volts yet the memory is supposed to run at 1.65 volts... yet I'm unsure if I should change it from 1.5 to 1.65 in bios because the motherboard is supposed to only support 1.5 volt RAM (according to the product description and the instruction manual)

Here is the product description for the RAM:

MemTest ran for 14 hours without an error - however this was at 1.5 volts I believe.

When running the OS though it did crash a few times. I'm going to reformat now so we'll see what happens since I also suspect that it was just an issue with incompatible software being present.

I really appreciate the reply.
