Well here we go again with the ship hijackings and after several recent failed attempts Somali pirates have managed to capture the oil tanker Aris 13. Personally I believe that this activity has gone on for too long without a proper response. The Somali's act like barbarians and disrupt international shipping lanes and they should have to pay the consequences for it. I think that its well past time to strike at their pirate laden ports and remove their ability to harass the shipping lanes.

Watch out. Trump needs some positive news. I can see him trying to make a quick hit on either the captured ship or the pirates home ports.

He'll be in such a rush something will go horribly wrong.

Desperate hungry people ignored by the world do shit go figure. The proverbial nuking of their ports doesn't really fix the underlying cause.
You're right, every time they get away with another attack on a ship they become more emboldened to do even more. Humanitarian aid was already tried and we see how that played out. Time to tomahawk their warlords and their troops to free the people of their oppression.

lets sell some weapons to ethiopia and kenya so they can divide up somalia amongst themselves. ethiopia could use some oceanfront property right?

Where is Tom Hanks?!
he's a very busy guy, last i heard he saved a bunch of people by landing a damaged plane in a river.

Nothing like an internet tough guy.......

We've already tried targeted strikes that didn't do the trick either.

It's been five years since the last take over of a commercial ship. But desperate people do desperate things. I'm not sure bombing then will really change much, and they have only messed with one of our ships, which they paid dearly for. Let the other countries protect their ships. Not our problem.

I hope they capture every single oil tanker that passes within 300 miles of their shores. If the shipping companies don't like it, they can provide them with jobs or fight them off themselves. They are water protectors, good people mmhm.

So the concept of "international waters" doesn't ring a bell to you?

Time to start eliminating some of these pirate hotspots along the shores (a few well placed missiles should help get the message across). Then set up "honeypot" ships with snipers on board to take out pirates.

From Fox News

It was not immediately clear who owned the ship or there it was flagged. Steed said it was UAE-owned and Sri Lankan-flagged, but the Middle East-based official said it was Greek-owned and Comoros-flagged with plans to re-flag it to Sri Lanka.

The oil tanker is flying a Comoros flag.

According to Trump, he is representing the United States, he is not representing the world.

Do you guys think U.S. will intervene?

If asked the US can offer assistance. We don't need to jump in everywhere every time there is some issue, but if someone asks for our help we can help them, though I prefer we stay out of things unless they affect us or our interests.

Not American owned nor USA flagged...none of our business. Let the owners' country/countries deal with it.

The US Military is NOT the world's police force.

Not what I said at all.

You said they were desperately hungry and being ignored by the world, which I took to mean that their hunger was being ignored and the rest of the world was making no effort to fix the problem. I don't disagree that nuking their ports will only hurt things worse, however.
