Yep. And they consider it a "great victory". Shows you just how fucked up that place is.

And to be more precise, estimates for total Somali dead from BHD run from 1000-10000, and only 19 Americans died.

I'm not trying to help the (people formerly called pirates in this thread), but I'll edit the article to show them how this should really be handled if they want to be called pirates.

You know, Vietnam had some pirate problems too with the pirates from Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, etc... harassing their fishermen and the likes, and guess what they did? They outfitted their naval assault boats to look like merchant ships and went on "business" trips. Problems solved.

So, that means that before this incident, they wouldn't have killed the hostages? Great! Why were all the shipping companies paying the ransoms??? Stupid pirates, nothing has changed at all. Considering how very few U.S. flagged and manned ships are doing international shipping, it's going to be a long time before they even see another of their "#1 enemy" targets.

I'm kind of surprised they they haven't started to convoy at least through that area. 1-2 small naval vessels could easily guard a convoy of 10+ container ships.

seems like a good money making oppertunity for the US navy. (or hell, even a private navy could do it. buy some ex russian equip, buy some boats, make your own navy. register it wherever. ^_^)
