Some 15 years later, how do you feel about Eminem?

He got where he's at not because he's white but because of his lyrics and how he puts them together. He had to be that much better than everyone else because he is white. It's not like you see only white people listening to his music, everyone does because he does it so well.

His whiteness is a big part of his success imho, in So Cal the alternative and rock stations both played him when he came out. These are stations that never touched rap before him and didn't play any after him. And it's not like his rap wasn't rap, it sounded like underground rap not some Limp Biskit mash up shit. His skill are insane, but on their own I doubt it would have been enough to propel him to the top like it has. There are non white rappers who people argue are as good, or at least close to Em, yet nobody outside of the underground knows about them.

I just don't think he's good. He isn't the "top 5" of anything....and its pretty obvious why he gets so much hype..he is really the only white rapper out there that can produce something half decent. So, I guess he gets brownie points for that...but no, I wouldn't put him up there with good rappers.

Eminem is an incredible lyricist, although I think a lot of his work veered into being shocking for it's own sake. Infinite is one of the best hip hop tracks of all time. It's a pity it's so hard to find these days.

25 to Life is his newest song that I like. I've actually purchased every album of his but his first.

I'll add I think Relapse wasn't a great CD, probably his worst but still some funny songs on there. The only rappers who I support are him and Nas.

I was not feeling Eminem's bad boy "fuck my mom and my baby's mother" rap. And besides, my mother didn't want me listening to that anyway. So, I didn't. Never got into him. Never got into his stupid bleached hair he was rocking back then. I hated his voice. I honestly thought he was a parody rapper.

And nobody was talking about Macklemore 15 years ago. Don't see how he applies here. Macklemore doesn't compare to Eminem at all..and I highly doubt he will get any play on HipHop stations like Eminem has.
