OK, one GTX or two GTS's?
Definitely ONE GTX!!! Save those GTS's for us that can't afford the GTX's!!!

Apparently the rumor is true. However, most of the affected stock should already have been replaced and the replacement stock should be in retailers hands.

Hi there
Yes this is true!
Our stock has already been replaced with boards that don't have this issue. So were still on schedule for launch day on both GTS and GTX.

We have been working with them to pull these back and change the resistor to the correct value.
We believe we will still be able to hit our hard launch this week (Nov 8th) with the new GeForce 8800 GTX boards.
So problem solved

I hope this won't result in a severe GTX shortage on launch. I'm getting a GTS myself, but I don't want to see double demand for it if GTX cards go AWOL.
So those of you with $650 (or more) in hand waiting for one, hold onto it. Don't steal my GTS!

Isnt the GTS ~450-500?

You can't have a recall on a card that hasn't launched. EVGA stopped shipment on 3200 cards worldwide, but it's not really a huge problem. An identical problem happened with some R580s during the launch.

Verified from an independent source that it was only 3200 cards. Nothing really big to be worried about.

Supposedly its a bad resistor. Supposed to be a 30ohm instead of a 50ohm I heard. The fault lies mainly with the card manufacturer and not nVidia. Not all G80s have this problem. eVGA seems to be having the most bad cards. So if you get a G80 look at the resistors. If they are 30ohm your fine. If its 50ohm then RMA it.
This won't affect availability for eVGA.Originally posted by: Skott
Only downside is that it might stifle availbility of some versions like eVGA's.

Update #4 : For those cards that are already shipped out, card makers will send the correct resistors to the distributors and they will be handling the soldering work themselves. There should be no delay or minor delay in the sale of the 8800GTX cards.

Who are these distributors that will be soldering boards? Is this manufacturers or retailers?

http://forums.anandtech.com/include/themes/default/raisedmenusep.gif cover up tho, (though i just like conspiracy)
havent made enough boards.... oh dear resistor problem, gotta have em all back to be fixed, blame on third party, can now rest shortage on a issue out of their control, still claim full hard launch, no one has any proof to say otherwise
lol not far fetched, but wrong lol
conspiracy FTW!
