Some AlthonXP MB questions, need help

Bought ASUS A7S333
but it didn't recognize any of my HDD(Western Digital 20 and 40 GBs) and my ASUS DVDx8 on the second IDE.
Worked fine on the first IDE though.

Bought it at TCWO. They exchanged for(they say) a new MB but the problem persists.
I really dunno what the problem could be since I tried every possible configuration with jumpers and drives.

Returning it back now.
Thinking of a new MB, not asus though.
Any recomendations for a DDR one? Or what could have caused the problem in the first place?

Also what would be a good place to order the MB from?
So they have good tech support and no problems with returns if the MB is faulty?

I doubt Newegg would solve the problem. They don't have tech support for one. He said he already exchanged the board so that is not the problem either.

Call TCWO! They have great tech support.

Hey KOT, have you made certain that both IDEs are enabled in the bios? Have you tried manually configuring the HDDs in the bios?

KOT, Double check your master/slave jumper settings on your drives - 1 master, 1 slave per ide. Have you tried another ide cable? Maybe it's hosed up.

KOT got two different boards (different serial numbers) with the same problem, so we told him to just send it back for a refund and pick a different board.

Although we could easily say it's something he's doing wrong, it's just too weird.

Point: Setting the WD to Master instead of Single. Ok. That explains the problem with the drive, but what explains the problem with the DVD working on the Primary, but not the Secondary?

See what I mean? It's just not worth it. Asus makes buggy boards at best anyway.

Do you read posts before you respond? How many boards would he have to return to Newegg before they tell him he should shift gears? Oh wait... There's nobody AT Newegg answering tech support issues so that would never happen. Insead, poor KOT would likely have to resort to a long distance phone call to Asus in CA where he will be put on hold for half an hour so they can give him a bogus answer.

Purchased the same board had it for only 2 days i had the same problems. It would only see the master on one IDE and couldn't get my writer to show up at all--bios update and still nothing. sis 745 needs revisions b4 i look again. Got a soyo dragon kt333 and no problems thereafter.
