God bless nick and, if I can add a little advice, don't let fighting the cancer become the center of your life.

So they are fairly certain the cancer is only on a couple inches of my small intestine. They said they cannot be 100% on that until they actually open me up to remove that portion of my intestine. Still, that is great news to hear. The tentative plan (from how I understood it) is to remove the section of diseased intestine and then blast the area with chemo to get rid of anything that may not have been removed by the surgery. I believe the surgery will be fairly soon, when I get a date I will post it here. Again, thanks for the support everyone. You nerds are great
So no chemo before the surgery to reduce the tumor? that's kind of odd, or is it early stage? you never said which stage we're talking about
Are you working with U Chicago or Northwestern? UIC?
U Chicago is excellent for oncology
This all sounds promising, though.

Based on your elaboration, you may want to get some other opinions from other doctors. As I mentioned about my coworker with intestinal cancer, he had radiation treatment on the localized area for six months prior to the surgery to shrink the tumor(zinfamous, they wouldn't do chemo before surgery). Being in Boston, he was able find one of the top specialist in the world for this type of cancer.
I'll talk to him today and have him send you an email.
