While she does kill some animals for conservation reasons (male lion, for example), most of it is obviously a play on words to rile people up.

"The first animal I ever shot was a White Rhino with a .416 Remington!!"

"Shot" != Killed.

Is it possible that a .416 Remington is used for tranquilizer rounds? Probably.

They were very specific that one of the rhinos was not killed:

"The vet drew blood, took DNA samples, took body and head measurements, treated a leg injury and administered antibiotics. I felt very lucky to be part of such a great program and procedure that helps the White Rhino population through conservation"

That same article goes on to imply that she killed one when they say:
"However, Jones has in her quest to bag the Big 5 African game animals (lion, elephant, Cape buffalo, leopard, and White/Black rhinoceros) shot a white rhino, which number around 20,000."

People are so easily manipulated.

yeah im sure shes eating lion and leopard burgers, and zebra tacos. most of the time they "donate the meat to the villages" as if villagers are going to eat dat sheet eitha
I realize you're just trolling, but yes, they do eat the meat. None of the animal is wasted. That plays a roll in conservation as well. "Let's see... I can go out and poach a zebra to eat (which is far from endangered), or these foreigners will give us a lot of money - more than we make in a year, to shoot that zebra, and they'll give us the meat."

Affixing a value to these animals gives the locals a reason to conserve them. Otherwise, they have more value dead to the locals (meat, black market goods, and no emphasis on making sure there's a steady revenue stream) than they do alive. Predators in Africa didn't have a value to the locals. Not only are people unaware of where their food comes from, they're unaware of where food for predators comes from. A lot of people seem to think those lions have a zoo keeper who heads down to the local Walmart Supercenter, and picks up a few bulk beef steaks that are made there. Heck, predators in the US - for years and years, mountain lions were hunted and poisoned in an effort to get rid of them and protect livestock. Any raccoons, possums, mink, weasels, fox, coyotes, etc., that come around my farm are shot on sight (and legally, I might add).

Further, I'm not sure what group this girl goes with, if she goes with a group, but our high school has an outdoor program that takes kids hunting all over the world. When they go hunting in Africa, in addition to paying a lot of money for the animals they pursue and shoot, they take tons of other supplies to help the local villages. Further yet, there's no need to be "rich" - a lot of the kids work their asses off for years to earn the money to go on these trips, with little help from their parents. I know a few kids that relatively speaking, most would consider to be poor, who have gone on such hunts.

Would love to see all of the pro gun peeps close their FB accounts. Doubt it would happen because too many need the FB drama in their lives.

Meh, she's right. Nothing wrong with what she's doing. A lot of people are fairly ignorant about these issues. Let's see, if you own 10,000 acres of land, you could use that to raise beef, or raise lions, just so people can point and say, "look at the lions." Of course, if you do the latter, you go broke pretty quickly, and the population outpaces what your 10,000 acres can support. So, occasionally, you have to cull some of the animals. Or, to put it another way, people seem to think, "well, I have my own property, and a pretty fence around it. I live in a civilized place. But, those lions, that's Africa. How dare anyone over there own property. It should all be wild."

As long as she's compiling with the law I don't have a problem with it, but she should be intelligent enough to realize that if you post pics of yourself sitting on top of an animal you just shot the public reaction will be extremely negative, most people do not understand the concept of "culling" and just react in a knee-jerk fashion, it would have been wise or her to keep her photos off-line for this very reason..

Spoiled kid. But at the same time she does have a point about the payments to kill one of these animals in a fenced in area. The money goes to help the rest of the herd or pride.

Because she is being a troll to a degree doesn't mean what she is doing is wrong. As pointed out, many of those animals she "shot" weren't actually killed. They were tranquilized shot for various research purposes. Of course an animal that is knocked out from a tranq shot is going to look pretty damn dead in a photo with her standing in the picture holding the gun that shot the dart.

Also, as pointed out, most of the animals hunted by foreigners are those already deemed ready to die by the local governments for various reasons. Usually because they are too old, can't reproduce, being a nuisance, or the area has a population spurt that is threatening other local wildlife and needs culling.

People over react to this shit, and she gets her jollies on idiots like this thread has shown there are. Is she a bit of a troll for doing so? Sure. Is what she doing wrong? Nope.

No, I didn't think what she was doing was wrong, I was just pointing out that if she post's these type's of pics to facebook the reaction is going to be a predictable one, posting your beaming smile while you straddle a dead animal is 100% going to generate a shit-ton of negative post's..

If she's not poaching them, I don't really see the problem. I know stuff like that over there is probably pretty loosely enforced, but legal is legal and hopefully ecologically sound.

From some people and not others. Just depends on her target audience for the posted pictures originally. If she was posting them in an attempt to rile up people then she's being a troll. If not, then the people stalking her profile are the ones being the trolls in an attempt to smear her and what she does.

Many people I know people many such hunting trip photos where I live. I'm pretty sure if some of the anti gun/hunting idiots saw the facebook pics of myself or many I know around here they would be "up in arms" and I use that cliche as a pun, over the pictures. But I don't go out of my way to present those pictures for those people to view that would have a negative reaction to them.

You can't hunt lion with a dart gun.

Ignoring that this was a veiled reference to OP's presumed penis size, it seems you can. That's exactly what she's doing half the time she claims that she "shot" or "brought down" one of these.

I wonder what would happen if they started full-on tranquilize-hunting only safaris. Drug addicted lions. Hmmm...

Her hunting for conservation purposes and donating the meat to villages is laudable. The fact that she's posting pictures of herself with her downed prey on FB and possibly other social media as well as wanting to host her own reality show screams attention whore.

The bulk of people who hunt for conservation purposes don't want to advertise their deeds nor have visions of hosting a reality show.
