My kids got all kinds of awesome stuff and their favorite was a cheap bb/pellet gun. I was surprised, here are my kids thinking they are cool with their guns

Crosman air rifle is still probably the best gift I ever got. We got years of use out of that thing and caused hundreds of dollars in damage to the house putting holes in things that shouldn't have holes put in them.

PLEASE teach that boy proper trigger discipline! Finger OFF the trigger till you're ready to fire.

Looks like a Crosman to me.

My folks hated BB guns and wouldn't get me one. They waited until I was a little older and got me a .22 instead.

The old fashioned chemistry kits however have been neutered into boring uselessness. You could make a better chemistry kit from what you keep in the kitchen and garage.

First thing that came to mind when I saw these pictures. Don't give anyone a weapon, seemingly harmless or otherwise, until they have been taught how to handle them.

True story: my brother's friend accidentally killed his cousin with a .22 airgun. Even the cheap pump guns are deadly if they hit in the right spot.

We taught ourselves trigger control (or lack thereof), like real men. Like boys are supposed to!

Got hella lucky we never lost an eye, especially with the firing range in the basement and bbs rebounding all over the place.

I remember my son's first two shots with a bow we got him for Christmas. First shot: bullseye. Blew my mind that he could hit that accurately, straight out of the box without messing with the sights. Turns out the first shot was luck. The send shot missed the target & went through the garage. By through the garage, I mean the garage door was closed - it went right through the wood; but didn't quite completely exit through the opposite wall.

this x 1000000

No excuse for that kind of poor weapon handling.

Semi-related... I hate how long "boys" wear their hair these days. Looks so awkward and feminine.

FYI a 10 year old boy was killed near here a few weeks ago by a bb gun, when his friend accidently shot him in the chest. The bb when through his heart and killed him. These are not toys for children.

Holy crap that's bad freaking luck. Must have been a powerful one, though I remember even my multi-pump .177 (I think I saw in Walmart recently for around $30-40) could make a very serious deflection in a dime at close range and bury at least the depth of a bb into a fence as well so I guess I could see if it went between a rip it could pierce the outer areas of the heart.

I've got a $100 single-shot air gun in .177 caliber that has 1000fps muzzle velocity. This is triple of what cheap ones have. Mine can bury pellet more than inch deep in the wood...

FYI your kids look like douche bags, tell them to cut their hair and look like men rather than nancies.

PS. Ed Hardy-ware clothes are for douchebags too.

I also echo the sentiments of the people above me, teach kids gun etiquette first BEFORE giving them the gun. FFS.

LOL, internet tough-guy and L&R-regular telling 10 year old kids that they look like douchebags. :awe:

That is awesome. I remember mine was rated to 550 FP after 7-8 pumps. I always wanted a .22 air rifle but they were much rarer. Shot myself deliberately in the foot with a shoe on after one pump once, hurt quite a bit.

In fact, talking recently to a guy at work who said they did extremely unsafe things with their air rifles when he was a kid.

They are great fun, though, if used safely.

I bought my girlfriend's daughter's 3 1/2 year old a Cricket .22 rifle for Christmas. I gave it to him at Thanksgiving so he could have it when they went to the deer camp, which they didn't. We took him to the local shooting range last Sunday and he went through a box of 50 shells. Boy did he have fun. That is all he has talked about the last week.

I don't get why parent's want their kids to look like hoodlums today.

Anyway I loved my Crossman 2100 back in the 80's...

My friend's Daisy Powerline was a close competitor. Easier to pump but not as powerful. Unfortunately for me since he accidentally shot me full power almost through the hand. My Crossman would have at least penetrated the other side.

Instead we had to pull the wild west surgery act of pouring alcohol and using tweezers to pull out the BB...looking back I should of just took and X-Acto knife and cut the back of my hand. The BB was right there.
