Some kids just have it too good

As I was driving through an upscale neighborhood during lunch I saw nothing but kids, probably no older than high school age, driving brand new 335i's, clk's, and one in a is-f.

/jealous cause I'm out getting mine

There is a girl in my little sister's high school class that just totaled her '08 5 series (not sure the exact model) a few weekends ago.

my wife and her siblings drove nice cars when they were in their teens (Infiniti's, BMW)

her sister totaled a 7 series (which happened to belong to the parents)

I had the luxury of driving a Ford Aspire in my teens

Back in my day we rode paraplegic turtles to school, uphill both ways in the snow while fighting off rabid sabre toothed tigers. We didn't have no fancy Trapper Keepers or your gal danged iPhones neither and we liked it. We liked it just fine!!!

I knew a bunch of rich kids. Their parents got them $2000ish crappy cars at first. Then after 1-2 years of no wrecks and safe driving, they got nice cars. I have no problem with that.

I knew a girl who totalled 3 brand new Mercedes C and S Class Sedans until her parents realized that they should buy her a clunker.

And I seen plenty of 17-18 year olds driving new-ish M3's, M5's, X3 and X5's, G35's, and the like around. Rich parents, eh?

That is pretty crazy, when I was in my teens I drove ancient Toyotas and Buicks. It's a good thing too, I was a horrible driver back then.

A friend of mine in high school would get to drive daddy's Ferrari F360 to school about once a month. His older brother totaled his brand new Vette Z06 at 120mph on the highway and had a new two days later.

The trouble with the luxury cars for kids is that they come with big engines. You give a teen with 6 months of driving experience a 300hp car and don't be surprised if things go bad. I'm sure most of them drive without any issues but the potential is there.

I didn't get a car from my parents at all. Something about character and jobs and crap. But yeah, one of my friends just totalled his super customised Audi TT but I mean it's ok, he keeps an M3 back home he will just have to undo some of the tuning he did so it can drive down a normal road. Haha. Frigging rich kids.

I grew up in one of the more affluent towns in the world, but my parents made me drive a '88 Ford Ranger, a '89 Bronco II, and then finally something decent, a '00 Suburban.
