I don't know anything about that kind of stuff, I was simply explaining how much of a contribution hes made to our gaming community not claiming he can do anything. I was responding to sygyzy's stupid little remark.

So we put his IP into that and he registered on the forums with his email that has his name in it. They searched the San Diego area of the Sudak family and they got them like that.

It looks to me like they were able to trace the IP to a residence because someone works for or has a friend that works for PacBell. If you noticed, someone posted the RBACK information, which from my brief time supporting a DSL account, I can recall that an RBACK is the terminology for a DSLAM or some type of DSL node. Anyway, these aren't some kind of magical tools they used to map the IP to a physical address, more like phoning a friend and posing a question. In any case, if you know who to call and talk to, you can get anything.

EDIT: I stand corrected! I guess this information can be looked up on the 'net now. Interesting, interesting indeed!

Right, but he said they traced the IP to his residence. What's to stop me from registering petersudak@gmail.com or some other fake name. Without that information you would have nothing on this guy. I could find someone's house in that area, register an account with their name on some bs webmail service and you'd never know based on what your crack team found
