I am reminded of Sony's technical support for high-end A/V products during the early 1980s. At the time they were still trying to establish themselves in the professional world and weren't very highly regarded. Whenever you would call them about a problem you were having with some of their equipment, the tech on the other end of the phone would inevitably say, "Oh, no, you never need to do dat!"
"But I DO need to do that. That's why I'm calling you! I need this output to work."
"Oh, no, you never need to do dat!"
"Are you saying you don't actually support this feature?"
"No, no support. Because you never need to do dat!"
To this day, I don't buy Sony products.
