Speaking as a (usually) bleeding heart, these kids need to go to jail, and stay there. They took bats to beat a man, and they were more than old enough to realize what that could do. I have no pity for them, and the defense lawyer implying the victim is to blame to go outside on his own property? God, people like that make me sick.

That said, I do feel for you Millenium, its always hard when people you love do something like this, that you cannot understand. But I hope they don't get their lives back, the man they beat never will, they shouldn't have the right to have theirs either. At least they can still say I love you to the ones they care about, and get a hug when they need one. The victims family can never have that from him again.

What a bunch of dumb fvcks, they deserve everything they get. You don't beat someone to death, especially when he is unarmed. They could have their lives back, but they don't deserve them.

I'm not defending the kids here, but I can't really have much sympathy for the guy that got whacked. What kind of idiot goes out to antagonize a car full of armed teens? I mean, stay in your house, call the cops, maybe even try to calm the kids down and get them to leave, these are reasonable things to do. Purposely pissing of folks who are better amred than you, especially when they already outnumber you 3 to 1, is just stupid. To bad the guy didn't get the chance to learn from his mistake.

What really shocks me is that people are attacking me in this thread and refusing to actually read my posts. What my friends did was wrong. I never said it was right. I never said they didn't deserve what they got. What I don't understand is the blood thirsty people on this board. I have been around a long time and never have I seen someone being attacked for being friends with someone.

That being said, I haven't talked to them since they attacked Jimmy. I can feel sorrow for both sides. I am not an independent observer. I have emotions when it comes to this. I liked Jimmy Hill a lot. It sucks that his wife is now a widow. It sucks that he is dead. It sucks that all this happened to begin with. My posts may not have been to clear. I was upset. I feel more sorrow for Jenny Hill(his wife) then any of you would ever know.

What sucks most of all is people twisting my words around to attack me. Why? I posted this for people to see because I was upset. I guess I should just keep things to myself from now own. Never once in this thread did I advocate that people should feel sorry for me or for my friends. I also haven't attacked anyone. The people on their moral high horses need to get back down to earth.

Jimmy and the other members of the Hill family were so nice to my family when my father died 10 years ago. Even though my father's job was at a large grocery chain that was the Hill's rivals, they told us that we could buy whatever we needed if we didn't have enough money. So don't tell me I am siding with anyone here. I am telling the story I heard to the best of my ability.

Also, yes I did use drugs 6 months ago. Yes I had a problem. I don't see how that has any bearing on this thread. I told my story as an addict to give support to people who are going through the same thing or have gone through the same thing. It hurts me that people hold that against me. I was being honest and had good intentions when I told my addict story.

Also, as far as I know none of them did drugs.

You people can judge me all you want. I just hoped that people would understand the feelings I had when I found out about this. I moved to Atlanta six months ago and had not been following the trial. If you people want to keep flaming me go ahead. Get all your moral rage out. I guess I should be devoid of feelings.

Edited for clarity and a few add-ins

They killed someone by beating him w/ a bat. Intentional or not, the person is dead. I for one believe we need HARSHER punishment so that people won't even think about doing anything like that in the first place.

Edit: Sucks for everyone else not really involved but have a relationship with the people involved, like you Millenium. Best of wishes.

Millenium, I understand that it isn't your fault that they are your friends, I am sure everyone has friends that could do this. Being raped in prision, while thats never what i would want on someone, I know way to many people who have went to jail, to say the likely hood is pretty high.

You said they had a dispute with his son, do you know what started this dispute?

I know it means nothing now, but I just wanted to know if it was something really petty or something that could merit being that upset?

All I know of what the feud was over was from an article.

"Prosecutors and the defense agreed that Allen had attacked Harper twice and kicked dents in his Camaro. "

Boo friggin' hoo! I do not advocate that these guys are tortured or raped, but I have zero discomfort over their being sternly punished through a lengthy period of confinement. Virtually every crime has some mitigating evidence, but that does not mean that society does not need to see criminals punished. The bottom line is that nobody wants to see a friend or loved one go to prison, but society has a superceding need to see these kinds of crimes redressed in a fair and appropriate manner.

I feel sorry for Mr.Hill and attacker's friend Chris.

In my opinion, Harper is guilty of approaching Mr.Hill with a weapon with an intent to cause injury or death, but didn't really do anything.

The Cain's were the primary killer and I think they both deserve a life in prison rather than death penalty they are hoping.

Jerboy, that sums up how I feel exactly. It is the best post you have ever made in one of my threads.

<< They all deserve the friggin' electric chair if you were to ask me. >>

That gives them too easy. They deserve an electric chair after five hard years in prison and just hope that it's going to cost the society less $$$ than keeping them for rest of their life. They're only 16 and 17. They have many years ahead of them and it's gonna cost hell of alot to support them.

By the way whose paying for this cost??!?!! :|:|:|:|:|

The dead man was a hero, as his life was sacrificed for his step-son. They surely would have done the same to the boy had dad not taken action. They appearantly were out for blood, and now they are reaping the consequences. They represent about 10 percent of the majority of murder cases, which go unsolved or lack enough evidence to convict or give sentences proportional to the crime. It always amazes me how much sympathy is wrot for the convicted, and the family and friends of the victim are ignored.

<< What kind of example is this?? Chris Stano, who did nothing wrong, except NOT stopping them. And still did the right thing, provided key testimony, is getting screwed over.. now that just plain sucks for him. And it sure doesnt promote what he did as right (testifying, not not stopping the others.) As for the boys that actually struck a man in the head w/ a baseball bat, i don't feel sorry for them...They let a small, simple, childish feud get outta hand, and they over reacted.... thats their own fault for losing control... I personally could never hit anybody, as hard as i could in the head w/ a baseball bat, unless it was in fear of my life or somebody else's.. but not out of anger.... I am sorry that these boys' future is ruined, and that they're gon get raped, but i dont see any other way of punishing them while still showing that MURDER will not be tolerated.... they cant just let em off easy, cause regardless of age, or whats going to happen to their future, they did commit murder.. and it was out of anger and hate, not fear and self-defense... those type of people are the cause of MOST of the problems in this wolrd...

But i sure feel sorry for Chris Stano, man.... id be pissed at the world if i were him probably.. he's all alone... he turned against his friends (the right thing to do in this case), so he lost them.. and the city still screwed him over.. he should have gotten something positive out of testifying, but didnt... that really sucks..

edit: apparently chris stano did make some kind of deal, so good for him....

For sure those kids are getting what they deserved. They could have done many other things but to go there with aluminum bats is pretty dumb!

that whole situation sucks, the ones that actually hit and killed the man I have very little sympathy for, however the ones that stood by I have mixed feelings about. As to the victim and his family that is horrible and no one should have to deal with this.

Yeah and I knew Jimmy very well too. He always told me I could have a job working for him if I wanted to. He can never have his life back. They can eventually. It sucks for both sides.

The moment they touched him with the first strike, they forfeited their right to have a life.

They got what they deserved, if not less.

They must be responsible for their actions. I carry a knife with me at all times, I know that if I ever choose to use it I better be doing it in self defense or else be willing to spend some time in the joint. I'm not saying that I will never use it out of anger and hate, but I know that if I do I will have to pay the price. Same thing with these losers.

<<"Mark Harper is guilty of nothing but being a dumb teenager," >>

WTF, being a dumb teenager is thousand times worse than being an everage one.
You kids always think that you can get away with it because of your age?

<<"Does this mean we still have to go to jail?">>

Oh, yeah, where the hell you think you'd go after you murder someone huh?

Fvck, I can't imagine that a bunch of crazy dumb kids could kill someone with bats.

10 years is a good deal already.
