The comments on the Daily Tech site were really harsh and basically came down to this: (1) It's a 15k car with a 25k battery and (2) Nobody will pay 40k for something that looks like a 15k car.

I don't think it'll even come close to matching the Prius in sales.

You're looking at an introductory price - the fact that it's in the same order of magnitude as conventional cars just tells you it will be economically feasible to keep going with these things.

GM doesn't need very many people to be early adopters, and they'll have no trouble finding them.

But then end up paying the money saved back into the oil industry. This car makes sense, now only if it had a little more range.

Perhaps this be a 'halo' car for GM, not a volume car. (No other maj manufacturer offers the same tech.) Heck, I wonder if GM can even make enough to meet the limited demand? The free publicity generated by the Volt provides a distraction while GM re-tools.

don't you get that people with lives like yours are going away? Live closer because there will be no magic bullet for a 125 mile commute - once energy gets to a certain price that just wont be possible anymore.
