NO. should microwave popcorn specifically say "MICROWAVE NOT INCLUDED" on it? should washing machines come with their own detergent? just because the box doesn't specifically say "NOT INCLUDED" doesn't put the responsibility on the manufacturer. its the consumer's job to read the label to determine what features it has, what it comes with, compatibility, whatever.

A printer cannot be used without a printer cable.

If you buy a car, do you get tires with them?
Do you get a remote control with a TV?
Do you get a power cable if you buy a computer/dishwasher/TV/whatever?
Why do you think that is? Maybe cause it's f*cking useless otherwise?

I do not have a printer at home, nor have I ever had one so far (can always print at work if I need to). If I buy a printer I wouldn't like it if they left out the cable, except if they explicitly mentioned somewhere, so I could buy one. It's like a battery operated device which has a notice <BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED>, if you buy it you know you still need to buy batteries before you can use it.

I could care less if a printer comes with a cable. But I just had to say, you guys SUCK at making comparisons. How can you compare getting a printer cable (REQUIRED TO CONNECT PRINTER AND UNIQUE TO PRINTER DEVICE -meaning unless you have another printer, you probably won't have a cable) to something like buying a DVD disc and getting a DVD player (which would only be a comparison if I got a printer from buying a printer cable). You guys are comparing getting an accessory with the main component to getting a main component with an accessory.

My PS2 came with all the cables to get it connected to a TV. My speakers came with all the cables to get it connected to my PC/or Stereo. My DVD player came with all the cables to directly play sound through the soundcard. My monitor came with a monitor cable to connect it to my computer. My motherboard came with IDE cables just like most IDE controllers will too. My phone came with a phone cord.

Basically it comes down to this, If you sell a product that doesn't come with the necessary items to at least get it up and running then expect to either get calls back from confused/angry people or put up a warning such as "BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED" or "PRINTER CABLES NOT INCLUDED". We live in a world where people buy things and assume a certain level of 'wholeness' - get used to it because chances are you probably do it to some degree too. The only reason you think it is a silly complaint is because you are a computer nerd with spair parts.

dude... none of the major printer companies includes the cable with their printers...

The Canon bubblejet I bought a few years ago did. That was my first printer purchase, so I assumed getting the cable was normal. The last two printers I have bought didn't come with cables. The sucky thing is that printer cables have gotten hella expensive at computer and office stores, $30 is flat out robbery. We used to sell these at Radio Shack (when I worked there in college) for like $6.99. As a consumer, not including the cable sucks balls, mainly because retailers notice it and charge the consumer a hefty fee for the cable. But if the guy didn't read the box about the contents, then he is stupid. There is no excuse for not researching the product you buy, including reading a box for contents.

One would think the retailer would make the effort to declare that the cable is required to use this printer to increase chances of selling the additional product. Like stated before, the cables have the most profit margins, sometimes more than the printer itself. Why would you not want to have the customer notified, so as to purchase it from you?

Seems like a pure lack of business sense here, both in servicing the customer and in increasing sales.

Bravo! I could not have put it any better. Finally someone with a sense of how the real world works.

Geesh, finally someone with some real sense. I have news for everyone on here, the MAJORITY of computer and printer buyers aren't anywhere near educated on computers that we on this board are, and that is a fact. The general consumer without knowledge in computers buys products expecting certain parts to be included already. It's only good business practice to accomodate the majority of the consumers. Everyone on this board is the minority in the computer world.

I agree with Viper. Unless the item states the printer COMES WITH a printer cable, YOUR NOT GETTING A PRINTER CABLE.

Why do clothes dryers NOT COME WITH A PLUG? Do you see on the package that it says your getting a plug with it? NO

I bet this same person complaining about a printer cable probably did the same thing to Sears when he ordered his dryer. I wish I had that much time on my hands to complain about the simple S**T.

Keep your chin up Viper.. just blow the dweeb off and press on for the hopes of a more intellegent customer, that can read!

You wash your clothes right? Does this mean I'm a minority when I do my laundry too? I rest my case.
