In a matter of days, I will buy a new PC and I had sum questions.

Antec 1080AMG Plus Perf.
AMD 64 3200+ S939
MSI K8N Neo 4 Plat
2X512 MB DDR466 PC3700 (OCZ)
Leadtek GeForce 6600 GT PCI-E
Maxtor or Seagate S-ATA 160 GB
NEC ND-3520A (DVD-RW)

1- I planned to overclock (not much though), but I don't know if it's really worth it? If it ain't worth it, do I still need the PC3700 or can I go back with sum good 3200? Also, if I overclock, do I need another HeatSink (from Zalman and others)?

2- Hmm, do I ABSOLUTELY need 1 GB of RAM (for the new gamez that are cumin)?

3- Is the Neo 4 Plat. as good as the Neo 2 Plat. was (for the nForce 3 chipset)? I mean, is the Neo 4 the best nForce 4 non-SLI mobo outta here?

4- Finally, concerning teh Hard Drives, should I go with Seagate or Maxtor (160 GB S-ATA)?

Thank you

I'd suggest staying away from MSI. I also doubt you need PC3700 ram even with an over clock. OCZ is good stuff and will overclock pretty well even at PC 3200. Stock HSF should be fine for a mild OC.

I have that same case, it's nice. The memory is up to you. To even use PC3700 you will have to overclock. If price is a big issue here and you're new to the whole overclocking thing, you might want to stick to some PC3200 and see how that works for you.

As for 1gb of ram... yes, I would say it's defineatly good to have for gamimg. You can run most games no problem with 512mb ram, but you will still probably start hitting your page file in games with big maps and a lot of models and stuff. Doom3/Halflife 2 would probably benifit from 1gb.

Why staying away from MSI? It ain't a good mobo?

Okay, I'll go with PC3200. Which brand now? Kingston, Corsair, OCZ...?

Okay, no HSF. Yeah, hmm, as for the HD, Seagate or Maxtor?

1- If you don't overclock regularly, most PC3200 would do. If you have a case with a good airflow, you don't need the Zalman heatsink

2- I would recommend getting at least 1GB (its mainstream anyway)

3- Can't comment from experience with your mobo selection, but I've had very good experience with the ASUS A8N-SLI.

4- I would recommend the Seagate (using the Seagate 7200.8 300GB drive for storage, and so far no probs.)

You can't go wrong with Corsair, unless you're using certain DFI NF4 mobos (so I've heard)

For the harddrive, go with Seagate, it has less compatibility issue.

Yeah, corsair is a good brand, but it really doesn't matter what kind you get, as long as it carrys a liftime warranty. Most quality brands will.

I don't see any problems with MSI, I hate when people to "stay away from this"... "stay away from that"... the only thing you should stay away from is Tiger Direct rebates.

I would go with a Seagate Drive (5yr warranty / check this one out $99 no rebates ) or a Hitachi drive (3yr warranty) I just picked up a 250gb hitachi from Best Buy not too long ago for like $80 after rebates and $10 off $100. It was $180 originally. (here it is, rebates expire today, so might want to jump on it if you're interested)

As for the hard drive...ive only used WD's so i cannot tell you...

But for the Ram go with the OCZ, i believe it is the most stable, best working, and compnay supported RAM out there, you will not have problems with corsair or geil, or w/e...but if your going to overclock even mildly, go with the OCZ,...plus as long as your within a certain voltage percentage the warrenty is still good

As for a non-sli nforce 4 mobo, ii would check out the chaintech or gigabyte motherboards also, and when you're in the range that your buying it all really depends on what gives you the most bang for your buck, and has the feature you want...in those terms i believe gigabyte has that.....

Built three systems with MSI so far. I had no problems.

I've used both Maxtor & Seagate HDDs. Seagate was quieter & had better warranty.

Okay. Correct me if I'm wrong; I should go with a Neo 4 Platinum, 2X 512 MB OCZ DDR PC3200 and a Seagate 160 GB S-ATA.

For the Seagate HD, should I go with the Barracuda 7200.7 "normal" or the new one with the NCQ thing?

For the OCZ RAM, is this one good? OCZ 2X 512 MB PC3200 blahblahblah

i originally bought a stick of ocz el pc3200 and then i put it in my second comp and bought a gig of corsair valueselect for cheaper then the 512 stick of ocz with no noticable performance hit from the looser timings and divider with my oc. you can pick up a gig of valueselect for under 100 nowadays and it keeps falling. i suggest you do that and get a 6800 or 6800 gt instead of the 6600gt. you will definately notice the videocard a lot more then you would the ram. im sure you will be fine wit the msi, but it it was my choice i would pick up the dfi nf4 ultra. i have dfi nf3 lanparty and it has been a great board with plenty of room for overclocking.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking? Is it correct to go with 2X512 PC 3200 OCZ Value Series?

Is the X800 XL a good card for the price? Or should I really go with a 6800 GT?

What are the best 6800 GT outta here (manufacturer)?

Also... about the memory, can I trust Samsung? I saw a deal: Samsung 512 MB DDR 400 for about $45 US.

What's the best 6800 GT outta here?

People say BFG, but I personally like eVGA.

EDIT: Also, I'd recommend waiting a couple more days until you can get your hands on a Venice core Athlon 64.

The Venice will be better than the current Athlon 64 S939 (dont remember the name)? Is it gonna be cheap like this one, cause I don't to pay a lot for a CPU.

Is the X800 XL a good card?
So, finally, for the memory, Value RAM is good enuff to do the job? I saw some Samsung at a really good price, can I trust it?

Yes, the Venice will allegedly run cooler and/or use less power, and it will seamlessly replace Newcastle/Winchester at the same price point. It wont even take too much time to go down in price like the Winchesters, because it's not moving from 130nm to 90nm.

I had a k7n2 delta and it was rock solid with a ~30% overclock. That msi mobo was great.

edit: I would go with one of the dual channel packs on newegg. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-145-440&depa=1
This corsair is roughly the price (one dollar more) of 2 of the samsung's you were talking about earlier. btw, were did you see the samsung at?

NCIX, I'm canadian, I can't buy @ Newegg otherwise I'd do it.

As for the RAM, is it good to go with the Samsung one?

I think I'll go with a 6600 GT.. the 6800 GT is hell too expensive.

So, is it good if I go with 2* 512 MB of Samsung DDR400 PC3200? Should I wait for the AMD Venice, even if I am not overclocking?
