I do shut down everything possible when I watch DVD's on this thing, and there's a chance the wife & I will watch Flight of the Phoenix tonight. As my 4 year old daughter puts it: "on the big scream".

My 3.06 seems to be a "bottomless pit". I just increased the bus speed again and now it's running 100% stable at 3568MHz. However, cache is king with SETI (it always has been) and I can safely say there's no way this machine will do 25 wu's per day. I'm guesstimating about 18-19 max wu's per day. Just another experiment that proves large L1 caches with HT rule the day!

I thought it was kind of crazy to spend an extra $70 for an extra meg of cache, but then I said: WTH - this is for my personal machine & I don't get to upgrade this one very often!!

BTW I'm now doing 3X resize on my DVD's so my output is running through the Dscaler5 video codec @ 2160 x 1440 pixels using ffdshow and playback is as smooth as butter

(AV people will know what I'm talking about here - suffice to say that's pretty good)

As deep as the pipes are on the new P4's that $70 was VERY well spent IMO.

I watched that DVD last night & did some fiddling around (it's hard to stop tweaking things) - so seti was turned off for over three hours. Still it did 22 WU's in the past 24 hours. I'll bet it would have hit 25 again had I left it running

Anyone have a link to the 3.03 command line client for Windows? I have been using the 3.08 client on a Intel P4 3.6 Ghz server and am getting about 19-21 units a day. Just wanted to try it with the older version to compare.

Yeah v3.08CLI is about 12-15% slower than v3.03

Mine's still doing 25 WU's in 24 hours.

This was a $340 upgrade but that included providing my wife with an upgrade motherboard (my old one). By the time I cycle her old mobo into one of the kids systems I'll likely sell the cpu out of it for about $100. So Net cost would be maybe $250 after selling off the old parts & paying Ebay fees.
Not a bad deal!

I've increased WU output on my system by 14 per day and on hers by about 4 per day so that's a net increase of 18 per day. After the upgrade of the kids machine using the spare parts left over from the wifes machine that will be another 4 per day for a total projected increase of 22 WU's per day.
