I just got the VX922 but you'll have to set it cause out of the box it's not the best image quality. After much settings and adjustments it's a great gaming LCD. Colors are nice and the crisp image are amazing.

I replugged my Viewsonic CRT P95f+ yesterday and the image was soooo blurry. The image on LCD are so sharp and crisp it's amazing. I didn't saw any ghosting at all. I played a little America's Army yesterday and noticed that around the lights when the background was completely black, there's halos (???) around them, really not good looking.

The only thing is that for normal work like internet and Word, etc it's a little too bright.

Overall a great LCD (8/10).

Ok I just plugged in my VX922. Looks good so far no stuck/dead pixels. Looks a little bright for web pages with lots of white. I'm off to test BF2 as that is what I bought this for. BBL...

I wish there was a nice 20" non-widescreen LCD for gamers. My 2001FP isn't very stellar in that area. :-/

There are several options:

Samsung 204B - TN panel, 20" 1600*1200. Not as fast as it's supposed to be (rated 5 ms by manufacturer). TN-typical viewing angles, otherwise pretty good (backlight, decent colors, decent blacks).

ViewSonic VP2030B - P-MVA panel, 20" 1600*1200. Pretty good for games but smearing in some dark color transitions (8 ms g2g, 16 bwb), some backlight bleeding possible. Good viewing angles, colors, excellent blacks.

NEC 2090UXi - A-TW-IPS panel, 20" 1600*1200. Good gaming capability (8 ms g2g, 16 bwb), fantastic colors, backlight, viewing angles. Monitor for professionals with lots of gimmicks pretty useless for gamers, not as fast as I'd hoped it would be. Expensive.

LG L2000C - S-IPS panel, 20" 1600*1200. Some banding issues reported. Pretty fast (8 ms g2g, 16 bwb), very good colors, backlight seems OK for most users, viewing angles are IPS-typical, read: great. Not as expensive as NEC.

I'd give the L2000C a try.

Seems like in the 20.1" range, both the Dell and NEC come well recommended...for 19", it seems the VX922 is preferred.

For those who vote, I wouldnt mind your commenting on any experiences you have had with your monitor of choice.

I am particularly interested in hearing from gamers how the Dell 2007wfp performs.

I'm also interested as to how the 2007WFP performs, and I intend to jump on it quickly as I've heard fairly good things. I'll probably be purchasing it on Monday, though perhaps we'll hear from someone who already has one.

The 2007wfp already has a few reviews floating around the web, but more specific to text and graphics replication...in other words, the monitor is a more then adequate CRT replacement for home office and some movie watching.

Will wait for a few more gamer centric reviews on the monitor.

i just got a 2007WFP. dont get one if you play games. seems no widescreens at the moment are very good for gaming if you notice blurring/ghosting.

anything about 35fps in game results in blurring in movement. an absolute HUGE amount of difference between this lcd and my 19" CRT. its really disappointing because the monitor is really nice for absolutely everything except gaming

after realising how bad it is, ive done a lot of research and VX922 keeps coming up as a great monitor if u must go the LCD route (and play games). its not the best in all other aspects, but with a true 10ms/100fps latency (next best ive seen is ~16ms/~60fps from a couple of other viewsonics) it seems pretty good.

Hmm, that's kind of disturbing to hear NewKleer. I just ordered a 2007WFP, so I guess we'll see if I notice it. Do you notice any banding from your monitor?

If you look at the LCD guide sticky, the author actually pulled the 2007WFP as a recommended gaming monitor...reviews that I have seen thus far have ben mixed on the 2007WFP.

I decided to take the NEC monitors out of the running largely because the second time I saw them, the Opticlear coating was actually quite distracting...and Tom's Hardware 19" LCD round-up had some fairly valid criticisms of the opticlear design.

At this point, I am torn between going 20.1" on the Viewsonic 2025wm and the VX922...I have seen both, and in terms of color intensity, clarity and contrast, they are both appealing and look as nice if not better then my current CRT. The 2ms response time on the VX922 certainly gives it an edge, and most reviews I have seen highly recommend it for gamers.

I think I may go 19" just because the scaling seems more intuitive to gaming, although I would have liked for either monitor to have USB ports for attaching a keyboard and mouse. But for the price, either Viewsonic monitor is a steal.

I have my trusty ol' gateway 2185 and I have never noticed any ghosting in any game (mostly FPS). I really tried to pick any ghosting out when I first got it but I couldnt, I may just not be sensitive to it or something, but either way my widescreen works like a charm, the only real issue I have with it is that some games I just cant for the life of me get a widescreen resolution(1680x1050) so I get stuck with 1280x1024 or 1280x960, or the black bars on the sides, humh oh well.

I was going to wait for the 2007 but it seemed like it was in development forever, so I jusmped the gatewat... glad I did.

I know this post is totally off what you are trying accomplish but hey, I am bored. LOL
Good Luck

There are a lot of concerning issues starting to emerge on various forums regarding the Dell 2007wfp, so it may be off my list now.

Still debating between the two Viesonics: VX922 or VX2025wm.

Definitely interested in hearing user reviews for all three of these monitors.

I may be a little bias but if you manely play games get the VX922. Widescreen needs more time to mature for games.

I agree...I have been doing a lot of reading over on the widescreen gaming forum, and the fixes and patches required to enable widescreen gaming is a bit daunting and not always intuitive.

My only gripe with the VX922 is that it doesnt have any USB input ports, which many monitors ship with these days...more of a convenience thing, as I would prefer to run my keyboard and mouse without have to run cables all over the place...not really a major issue in the grand scheme of things, as the 19" LCDs with USBs are typically not very good for gaming.

Yes if you go with the VX922 the best time spent is gaming. Everything else is average, like surfing the web. Allthough viewing movies is better than I had hoped, widescreen is perfect for that.

I got the VX2025wm a couple weeks ago for $409 shipped. I have not had any problems so far. I upgraded from an ultrasharp 17" and I was very suprised at how well this one performs. I mostly play counter strike and I dont notice any ghosting unless I move my mouse side to side very fast, which still isnt all that noticable. If you are on a budget this is definitely the widescreen to get.

Just reporting in to say I am ordering the VX922, probably in the next week or so. Will report back on my experiences with it once it arrives and I have some time to play.

Ok sounds good! Remember this is a gaming monitor so don't expect it to do everything perfect. One thing it does do perfect is gaming

Outside of some minor video editing, uploading of songs to my iPod, checking the ole finances, and Microsoft Office applications, I dont use my computer for much else...definitely more gaming intensive then application intensive.

As long as the text is readable and crisp, it shouldnt be an issue...I dont do graphic design or photo editing.

Well, I am definitely going 19" at this point, but the NEC 90GX2 has become a more attractive prospect after reading some posts on the LCD sticky forum.

So now it is definitely between the 90GX2 and the VX922. Wish the reviews I have read on both monitors were a bit more definitive, as you can find review sites that bash each respective monitor for features or performance that others praise them for.

I had an opportunity to do a side by side comparison of the VX922 and 90GX2 yesterday with actual gaming, video and application.

My thoughts. Both monitors are comperable for applications, although the 90GX2 had a bit of an edge on the video front. For gaming, the viewing angles on the 90GX2 were a bit wider...but even better...the 90GX2 has preset defaults you can access directly from the monitor interface...it has a gaming setting, and the color intensity, contrast and brightness were far better then the VX922.

However, the glare on the opticlear coating of the 90GX2 was fairly evidence within the store lighting...not to the point of being distracting, but certainly a consideration. The 90GX2 definitely has an edge if you typically play games in dark rooms...however, I can see even a little sunlight being a distraction, but glare is a problem with most monitors anyway.
