I got in on the deal this morn with a print out of the OD ad from yesturday listing the price at $119

For a grand total of 126$ they charged me shipping
Oh well Still a great deal

Anyhow, What i want to know now is there was a sticker advertising the ATA100 features but nothing about an extra free 5 gig. I have not installed it yet waiting for ATA100 card. Is tehre anyway to tell if i got teh extra gigs w/o installing it? No sticker of any knid on drive...

The Imation 100 pack was priced $59 ?

They were sold out of the 40 gig Maxtors.
So was Best Buy and Office Depot.

BOOYA! got the zipdrive deal retroactively,having bought the Maxtor last week! whatta nice deal: 95bux after PM w/Office Depot - $30 coupon; and a free ata/100 controller card (sell that for another $30 off) & free Zip drive! To keep this from belonging only in a brag&moan thread, i'll outline how it worked for me:

seemed very straightforward; called 1800-3-Staples, talked briefly to a CSR who simply wanted to know my order # from last week. That wasn't on my receipt, but she (Michelle) just took down my tele# and figured it out from there. She then transfered me to Customer Service, and when they finally picked up, the guy (Ed) on the line had already been filled in as to what i wanted. He only wanted the Item# (445956) and "coupon" code...(89340) so i pretended to rummage around for my newspaper while digging up this thread in which someone listed both. (The coupon code SHOULD be allowed to stay, IMHO, b/c it's just from the circular; anyone who gets a paper or walks into a Staples store gets a copy of it...not an online code; If a MOD disagrees, please just delete the codes and don't lock the thread, b/c this could be VERY valuable to lots of the readers!). It all went very smoothly from there. He explained that the packing slip would reflect that i bought the drive at $99 and then a $99 credit being applied, leaving tax only. very good stuff! The rep will enter the free zip code for you but the hard drive is sold out, you can put it on backorder. The free zip code from the Dallas newspaper is 893-40.

i just called a rep to try that code fraggle posted...
i think he said that the coupon wasn't valid, but he knew how to get it for me anyways

my totol went up about $2 from the original without the zip drive,
but its not showing the actual -$89 whatever for the zip drive online order status
i guess the order status thing takes a while to update itself

I got the Maxtor 40GB (a sticker said Free 5GB more plus Ultra ATA/100 ) pricematched with officedepot.com printout and the free zip drive for $130 incl tax at Staples B&M. They didn't take online coupon though, even I have the actual letter from staples.com.

And I just called staples.com about my order last week (pm with officdepot and $25 coupon) and had no problem in adding the free zip drive with the coupon code.

officedepot.com is now listing the HD at $229.99, can't do pricematch anymore unless you have to old printout.

i was charged twice!! and now the CSR says that I cant get the zip drive because the drive has to be above 150 dollars!

I was first charged for the Harddrive, 100.69, and then I was charged for the harddrive and the zip 97.39!!

what the hell?

I was at my local B&M Staples at open today. Got them to pricematch last week's Office Depot ad (I brought it with me), despite expiring yesterday. Got the ZIP drive free, too.

$119+tax for drive + ZIP.

As for pricematching the expired ad, just look at the Stapes price match wording. Within 14 days "of" purchase, not "after." Hehe.

I bought the drive last week for $89.99. I just called this morning to request a free zip drive. The first CSR was a jerk, claiming that I have to spend at least $150 to qualify for the free zip drive, because I pricematched and used a coupon, so I could not get it. So I called second time, and a much friendly CSR, he just asked for the item number and coupon, and told me it should be delivered no later than next Friday. Thanks guys for this hot deal, zip + 40 gig + ATA controller for $69.

C\\i talked to a another CSR regarding the extra charge on my credit card, and he looked at my order and said that I shouldnt get the zip drive. he put me on hold for more than 20 minutes, so I hung up. Does he have a right to change it? I called again and got a freindlier CSR, who had to ask her supervisor to check the charges. it only says that i was charged once!!!

my credit card cleary shows two charges from staples!


What do i do now?

PS: all orders are processing, because the board has to approve the pricematch and im afraid that my zip drive might be removed because of the pricematch as well.

also, they charged me two times for the harddrive,and their system only shows one!!
they want me to fax in a satement, argh!!!!

lol, i just noticed it was 99.99, heh i guess i got lucky. for the zip drive, i just gave the rep the code that was posted earlier here that was printed in the staples flyer.

about the double charge of the credit card, was it because you bought it first, then came back later to pricematch it? i suppose there could be a possiblity when they adjusted the first order, that they subsequently charged it again rather than modifying the original one. i mean if they are giving you that much of a hassle just withhold payment on your cc for the second charge.

staples doesn't charge on the credit card until they actually ship the item(s) right?

i ordered my 40gb drive on friday, and called csr back today for the zip drive...
the first time i called, i gave him wrong coupon code for the zip drive, so he said he put it on hold for me... but when i checked their web site right afterwards, it said that it was processing the zip drive (but without free zip drive thing since i didn't have right coupon number then) - does that mean staples already charged the $90-whatever for the zip drive?

then i called back with right coupon code and got the $90-whatever off... and now the total is correct but, im wonder if staples charges for items online RIGHT after they have received the order or AFTER they have shipped the item(s)...

confusing... i just dont want multiple charges of the same product on my credit card
