The SPOOF/UNAUTH ACCESS team will ask for documentation from you to go forward (to make sure we are talking to the correct party). The process will take 30 days to investigate/resolve.
They will ask for:
a) id
b) police report
c) affidavit
As always, please use extreme caution with your passwords. I would highly recommend NOT using the same email/password combinations used at another site.
The phone number can be found by logging in on the account and going to the HELP section. This is so users can answer general inquiries before contacting customer service.
How come it takes so long for this process to take place? 30 days?... I think that if the money is safe then I guess I will go ahead and close my paypal account for good and make sure that nothing bad happens again. I just reformated my machine about a week ago. Did not do alot of net surfing so I guess viruses or trojans are not a big possibility, anyhow I just reformated my machine again. So do I need to file a claim to the police? I did not do that yet, because I thought paypal will take care of that. Anyhow I will wait till paypal team responds to me. Thanks everyone for ur support. I guess my money is somewhat safe now.
It takes 30 days because the activities have to be reviewed, check the documents, reports, the possibility of other accounts that are impacted...in addition to working the claim through the insurance agent.
