The only problem i see that is if a Tier-1 source told Questar 6 weeks, but Intel is saying 8 weeks, what significance will it make? So lets say "lleD" gets it in 6 weeks, it takes them 2 weeks to make systems available for purchase, then July 23 comes along... BOOM! Buy on same day release? What, are they Nvidia now?

I don't see why people think I'm bent out of shape. It's poor form to drum up more Conroe hype and I'm simply saying so; Think about it:

1). We can't verify whether or not he actually knows anyone with a tier-1 OEM to begin with.
2). No logical analysis of Intel's or <insertnameofOEMhere>'s business interests could lead one to conclude that it would be likely that said rogue OEM would break Intel's scheduled launch date by selling retail or OEM Conroes 17 days early (same applies for Conroe-equipped systems). The only way they could get away with that and profit from it would be to sell an early batch an exhorbitant prices, and even then, I can't see Intel being happy with that.

The only reason to post such a rumor here is to get people's hopes up that they'll have a shot at an early Conroe before everyone else. That's it.

I was trying to be nice by pointing out that the information he gave us is rather useless rather than simply stating that we have no reason to believe him whatsoever.

AkumaX makes a good point as well, though I suspect most first-tier OEMs will be getting some Conroe chips in before the 6th of July.

Even if the tone of what he said wasn't necessarily friendly, he's got a point. What first-tier OEM in their right mind would deliberately steal Intel's thunder by selling products more than two weeks before their scheduled launch?

If Intel was planning a secret early launch, that's an entirely different matter.

Yeah, I was referring to his tone. I don't really care whether Conroe comes out 17 days earlier or later .

I'll back Questar up on the release, not sure about the retail part though. I've heard the same thing from people working for a very large company that had, until recently, primarly just dealt with intel.

I've also heard, Woodcrest will be here before you know it, as in a month after this companies release of dempsey based systems, which has already happened.
