Guys and gals it is with a sad heart I update this thread, Zoey passed away in July of 2020. I suspect she was hit by a fedex truck, but nobody saw it, and the driver says he did not hit her. The truck came down the road, which is a dead end, to deliver a package to my cousins house. It was the only vehicle that had gone in or out. My cousin left from his house and found her dead on the side of the road.
She lived a wonderful life where she was free to roam and hunt as much as she wanted. From time to time she would come home with scratches on her muzzle, which I suspect were from catching rabbits. Sometimes I would find a half eaten rabbit in the yard. I saw trail camera pictures off a hunting lease close to a mile away of Zoey and Ellis. The farm is bordered by thousands of acres of timber company land.
Ellis is doing good. He is getting fat from laying around, not as energetic as he use to be.
Since Zoey and Ellis were picked up in 2014 I have adopted 4 more dogs:
Buster
Beaux
Bubba
Bonnie
Bonnie was picked up off the side of the road in September. Poor dog was starving, spine and hips sticking out, and looked like she had the mange. Vet said the skin condition was from fleas and not mange. Bonnie was spayed last week and has had her shots.
Zoey was spayed before she went int heat the first time. Poor girl got car sick on the way home from being spayed and threw up all over herself. I brought her in the house and cleaned her up. Next day she was back to normal and playing.
Zoey was a wonderful friend and companion. I could always count on her to go on a hiking trip with me. She will be dearly missed.
Love and miss you Zoey.
