Someone please explain to me how North Korea is "no longer a nuclear threat"

Trump made this declaration. I'm not very bright but as far as I know NK has working missiles with nuclear warheads. Every foreign policy expert, intel expert and nuclear weapons expert say this isn't true. However Trump says it is.

What am I missing?

You've made the error of assuming Trump's declaration actually being true. Clearly, this is not the case 99.9% of the time.

You see, all the verification processes that were put in place for the Iran deal were inferior to "I trust him."
Who knows what transpired in that one on one for 45 minutes. They got real close.

The way it works is that Trump repeatedly says ridiculous things and Fox goes on a journey from "he's just exaggerating" to "what he meant by that was" to "what that means is" to repeating exactly what he says as fact. And more mainstream sources eventually report what he says as "disputed" rather than false. His base gets their information from the horse's mouth or the horse's mouth piece which actively condition them to distrust other sources.

It is the only thing that makes sense.
How many moves does Donny have?
Mueller is coming and even his own lawyers is preparing for impeachment, the only only chance he has is getting his base and approval rating high enough so that pressure on congress is big enough that he might just survive it.
He has to double down on this PR stunt, if it pans out he gets maximum value, if it doesnt he is dead in the water anyway.

Haven't you heard, Canada is a major threat but North Korean is our best ally right now along with Russia since they don't have any press that ask legit questions.

You know how Iran IS a nuclear threat despite not having nuclear weapons and suspending their development. Well, North Korea with their nuclear weapons IS NOT a nuclear threat under the exact same reasoning.

Pakistan is a current nuclear threat and has a long and current record of conflict and current small border skirmishes with India.

Iran will be a nuclear threat at some point and has a long recent history of hot wars, proxy wars, huge support for terrorists, etc.

North Korea has nukes now but effectively is not a threat to anyone. They haven’t been in a war, fought a proxy war somewhere else, support terrorism to any large extent, and besides some random acts of a nuisance or criminal nature (like kidnappings and missile overflights) hasn’t really been a threat to anyone. They’re effectively the Cuba of Asia, ripe for more democratic governance but otherwise better left alone.

Which hostile wars have they been in? The one where Iraq invaded them with US help?

Sounds like you are advocating containment for NK

Just as a linguistic point, I don't think you can have a history that is both 'long' and 'recent'. 'Recent', by definition, is not 'long'. I suppose recent could be 'wide'.

The US, though, certainly has a long history of hot wars, proxy wars, huge support for terrorists, etc. The NPT does, does it not, also commit the existing nuclear powers to work towards disarmament?

After poking around the net I think this isn't a question that matters, although I've found a one-word answer I think

Putin.
