Ordered a $40 mobo/cpu/ram on ebay. Got it yesterday and opened it. LOL @ the shippers packing skills. It failed to go past the BIOS screen. I tried multiple keyboards, switching the ram, and clearing the CMOS jumper. I contacted the buyer and asked for an exchange. I let him know the shipping was fucking horrible and am awaiting a response. Figured I'd post a few pics. After this deal and the previous thread I made I'm probably done with ebay.

Seller's daughter is probably bawling her eyes out because she can't find her Bambi blankie.

you should be happy the mobo was even in a anti-stat bag

was the blanket wrapped around the mobo at least?

Wow, I don't know if it is the lighting or what, but I am imagining that piece of cloth smells horrible.

If it was important I would try reseating the CPU, it looks like the HSF impacted the top of the box pretty good. The rest of the box seems to be in good shape, though, going to guess this was NOT through UPS?

yeah, i guess i should look at it that way. i was going to be fine with posting a pos eval if it booted up, regardless of the packaging. but no, the first pic is exactly how i opened it. the mobo was on the bottom of the box, the blanket folder on top.

I would resell the blanket as something haunted and the killer of electronics.

As bad as that is, it's not that terrible.

I order ~20 hdds at a time for off-site backups. I've received them literally all thrown in a box with peanuts (drives inside of AS bags) and wedged in with white styrofoam, which had so much static it was popping and arcing as I pulled them out.

When ebay first became popular I ordered a mobo and it came with no AS bag wrapped up in a blanket that reeked of urine.

Just received two sticks of DDR2 RAM from a seller who placed the two sticks in a folded piece of cardboard and wrapped it all UP with brown tape (shipped via USPS).

I hope I am as lucky as you are when I test them later today.

For the most part people I order from pack well because I'm pretty careful about the sellers I order from. But I ordered a bunch of RC parts last year that when I got them the bags were sticky and REEKED of cat piss.

Last time I sold a MB I placed it in an antistatic bag then within a large padded bubble wrap envelope.

I'm waiting on a TV that's supposed to arrive today. God I hope I don't have to go through anything else. This would be my first major Ebay purchase.

I've had a few nightmare experiences. Think I'm probably done with buying on ebay for a while. Well as far as electronics. It's really pathetic how bad our logistic companies are these days. I wish people could see one morning on a UPS belt pre-loading trucks.. It's horrible. Fedfex, USPS, no different.

I would definitely leave feedback indicating poor packaging even if you do manage to get a refund/problem resolved.

Sometimes ebay is just like going to a garage sale...

Just out of curiosity, what kind of feedback did the seller have? Were they there any negative/positive comments on his prior shipments?

I've had pretty good experiences with eBay throughout the years. Most people do a good job with packaging, and I try to do the same when I ship things.

One of my favorite packaging materials is actually plastic grocery bags. You can stuff them in there, and nothing will move around. When I shipped some Christmas presents this past year, that's what I used, and everything arrived in pristine condition.

Three cheers for being too cheap to buy real packaging material!

Did you come in here just to post that? Thanks for the post.

Is he wrong? Why are you calling fail on ebay when it was the seller's shitty packaging? It didn't matter if he used ebay, Amazon, or Craigslist... it still would have been fucked up.
