I'm having this small problem with my DSL connection
Sometimes, when I connect, I don't receive data (i.e. I can't connect to any sites)
For the most part, when I try to connect to a site, it'll load like just the title and then continue trying to load the rest, but doesn't
But then, maybe after 15-20 min or so, it'll connect normally.

Anyone know what's causing this and how I can fix it? BTW I'm using Verizon DSL with Win2k and an Intel pro nic

What do you mean by sometimes connect? Isn't the modem always constantly connected?

I find that after I disconnect my modem and reconnect it, I find that it takes awhile for the computers to be situated again to surf the internet. Are you sure everything is connected securly and that the modem is not defective (IE power being flaky)

<---has Verizon DSL as well

I have had plenty of those back then, its probably your isp is having problems or the phone company servers, well thats what my isp tells me, but usually i can't do nothing about it and have to wait til its back up. Sometime for me its a few mins, an hour or days. Thats dsl for ya.

i had the same problem before with pacbell dsl...fixed it by doing a windows update from windowsupdate.microsoft.com... installed the latest critical updates, service packs.

i should also mention that was with windows98, and using enternet 300 to connect. i read somewhere that a router would probably take care of that problem if it still persists... i don't remember the actual site, probably pachell.com.

what software are you using? If you are using enternet, try RASPPoE (freeware). It works very well. I also had the same problem with enternet.

This sounds like a problem with your ISP. If you're getting confirmation that you're connected to the network then connectivity is not the first place to look although with any data line quality of the connection directly impacts data speeds. You might want to call your DSL provider and see if they're having any problems. Are they using a proxy server? If they are, maybe it's having difficulty responding to page requests. As I've hinted, there's a few things that could cause this, and I'm sure there are others on this board who know more about it than I do. Good luck!

Yea try calling your isp, my ready light was on steady, but can't receive any data, so i called them up and after a few tries for a workaround and still no lucky, they say they give a trouble ticket to verizon to fix it up, but i'm not under winpoet so i wouldn't be so sure since mines is static, so its either the isp prob or verizon.

i could be mistaken, but if the phone line going from ur wall to the modem is longer than 12 feet, then that might be causing ur problem. just throwin i tout there

try disabling the "Automitically detect settings" in internet options. If that doesnt work i would recommend getting a hardware router, i use to have a sililar problem with SWBell DSL, when i got a linksys router it seemed to fix it.
