'Aerodynamics May Explain Space Shuttle Breakup'
There are three scenerios to explore, but the first scenerio, loss of control while rolling the shuttle over to expose the tiles, may very well be the problem. It appears it is a dicey manuevor at best, and not much room for error.
To the rest who asked about the Presidents address, I saw it on CNN. I have a 13 inch tv on always when I am at the computer. It was brief. It was to the point. It was eloquent. I will search for a text, but his sincerity was moving. You need to see a replay. I believe there is one on CNN.com website.
Well said, we need to replace these old shuttles and not pull back from space. Out there waiting for us are knowledge, resources, and a chance to spread humanity beyond our single, fragile little home.Originally posted by: Nemesis77
I hope funding for space-exploration will increase significantly in the near-future. It would be suitable honor to the memory of the astronauts and it's something that just needs to be done IMO.

the news media really goes overboard. some reporter on CBS or one of them channels saying they found an arm and hand. How tasteless. How'd they feel if they had family members just lost and the news was reporting they found a hand and arm.

Very sad incident. I can completely empathize with these people's families. Too bad that they have to go through all the media crap because it is not fun. Anytime there is an aviation disaster it bothers the hell out of me because it hits so close to home.
I salute the men and women on the shuttle and hope their families will be able to deal with this tragedy.
Link to a thread on another board with lots of Radar Pics.
