Almost unbelievable.
Over here in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area the electronic highway traffic signs all read something to the effect of, "If you find a piece of Space shuttle material, call the police or 281-xxx-xxxx."
It is just really odd actually reading a sign saying that and makes it almost surreal; like some strange movie.
Also, on another thought, not to trvialize the tragedy but it seems like overall NASA has a pretty good record. Between Apollo-1, Challanger, and Columbia over like 35 years or so and taking into prespective that they are doing possibly the most dangerous thing imaginable; only 3 fatal accidents is amazing.
Again, it is such a tragedy but to be calculating it seems like statistics just finally caught up to them. If it wasn't this flight, it may have been the next one.
Hopefully, though, they will be able to learn from this disastor and eliminate any possibility of this particular situation occuring again.
