Every substace has a flash point. At that temperature nearly anything will burst into flame. The heat generated by rentry into the atmosphere is incredible. Just a few critical tile's failure would result in loss of control. Just a degree or two of yaw is all it takes at 6 times the speed of sound. The 'explosions' we see could be just about anything.

I doubt we'll see stuff on Ebay. NASA is telling everyone to stay away from any wreckage that is found due to the chance of there being rocket fuel present. According to them, breathing in the vapors will leave you dead in 24-48 hours

CNN is reporting that a plane was "awfully close" to the shuttle before the explosion, but it sounds like coincide to me since the videos dont show anything to that nature.

That is the one thing I hate about watching breaking news. Too much speculation, too little fact, and too many people trying to "break" the news story.

At least I haven't heard too much speculation about it being a terrorist attack.
