Yeah, viruses are great. I mean, they're suck and are a pain in the ass to get rid of but they pay well.
The best are the real new ones that Norton doesn't even have anything to repair it with built into NAV. Oh, even better though, is when people don't have NAV installed, find out they have a virus and then call me. That rocks - not a terribly difficult job but it's time consuming and I get paid by the hour.
While I'm on the topic of being off the topic of this thread, I was asked to fix this guy's computer. He also wanted me to figure out what was wrong with his Jaz drive. So I go to work on the Jaz drive on his old computer. I could test it on his new Dual P4 2GHz Xeon machine because he said he installed the Jaz drive on his new computer and it screwed some things up - it did, I had to fix a few things that actually weren't his fault - weird. So he insisted that I not use his new computer for the job so I go to work on this on his old computer. I'm getting nowhere - this old machine is a POS. It's about as stable as a one legged chicken. After about a few hours of frustration I go and talk to his wife and she tells me that the computer I was working on has NEVER worked properly and the company that built it couldn't even get it worked. Well, whatever, at least I got paid for those hours of work and found out that I didn't fubar his old machine (I ended up taking the drive home and working on it at my house to finish the job). Anyway, yeah, viruses are annoying.
