On a more serious note. Dunno how old your daughter is, but I'd probably talk to her (daughter) about the situation. That whole drama may have put her in an awkward state. My parents always brushed that stuff off and it always made me mad cuz I didn't know wtf was going on. Communication is a good thing.

One of these days, that is going to happen to me. I am either going to let my MIL or her oldest daughter have it. The things those two say... I completely sympathize with your predicament. The worst part is that sometimes Mr Isla acts like them, too. He tries not to and one of the biggest insults we can make to each other is to say that one of us is acting like his mother! That's heavy artillery around here... we both cringe and stop if we think we are being like her... it's not something pretty.

It's hard to believe that I have tolerated it for as long as I have.

Anyway, the best thing to do is realize how pathetic they really are. Try not to let it get to you and they will eventually go away. At least that is what I keep telling myself!

My wife and I on occasion have similar issues with her mom.
What in-laws need to understand is that when the were raising us, (most of us anyway) children were taught our place in the scheme of things pertaining to child rearing. Now as grandparents, they need to understand their place.., and it is not to undermine their sons/daughters teachings and child rearing efforts. This is not to say that they do not have a valuable influence on their grandkids, they do. The influence just needs to be kept in perspective.
