OK, I finally got my CompGeek DVD drives today. I ordered 2 drives, both of them SD-1212 6x/32x Toshiba DVD-ROM drives. However, CompGeeks mistakenly sent me an older SD-1210 model drive (4.8x/32x DVD-ROM) drive instead of the promised SD-1202 model. Very dissapointing. Especially seeing how they totally screwed up some of the people on the other thread concerning the AHA-2940 cards (
AHA-2940 Thread).
Can these people get their orders straight? Such a hassle--very annoying. I'm gonna bitch at them tomorrow.
In any case, the correct SD-1212 drive turned out to have both analog and digital out (SPDIF) connectors. It had ROM version 1R22 v2, making it REGION FREE, which is a very nice feature. Manufactured Sept, 1999 and looked like a new pull (a little bit dirty). Came with an audio connector. I will try this sucker out and report back. I think that it is still available...if they can get the model number right.
