I threw up in my mouth a little
I can appreciate that. However, I'm a sucker for pop music, so I like Limp Bizkit's version a lot better than The Who's. I like how they do the guitar, effects, and vocals and how they give it an edgier, more modern sound. Also, I'm not hung up on history or originality. If I think someone did it better the original artist, I'm okay with that and I'm not embarrassed to say so. Like with Trent Reznor's "Hurt" song - I think Johnny Cash not only did it better, but did it WAY better and totally transformed the song with his voice and the emotion he put into it.
A lot of people really like the original versions of songs and like to tie the original performance to their like or dislike of the song, but I really only care about how it sounds and not how it was done or who did it first, so the history doesn't matter to me nearly as much as how the song sounds. My bottom line is that I really only care about how the music sounds. I can appreciate that you may like The Who and their original version of Behind Blue Eyes, but I can also appreciate Limp Bizkit's cover and personally like how it sounds a lot more.
