I'm sure we've all seen this video, awesome as it is but I like the song a lot too. Anyone know of any groups/artists that are similar?

The closest artist I can think of is Loreena McKennitt.

[edit]Nevermind. After listening to the rest of the song it's not very similar.[/edit]

That song was composed for the video.

He's just asking for similar-sounding songs, I believe.

Have you tried anything else by the same artist? I grabbed that song from Amazon after I saw that video but didn't listen to anything else. I hate to say it, but you might want to try some Yanni or John Tesh.

Edit: This song may be closer to what you're looking for.

Thanks for your input. The one in your edit sounds pretty good. I checked out the other songs affiliated with the first song and they seemed a little too slow.

Thanks again.

As far as I know, that was the only song ever made by that artist..but I could be wrong.

check out the faqs on his website. He is, in fact, very un-loaded. I think that's the way it is with most of the people I've met who do long-term traveling. Though he get sponsored by Stride Gum to do an encore to his first self-financed trip.

Also, OP, I second the Explosions In the Sky rec. Most of what I've heard of them is somber though. This is really kind of weird, because about a month ago I downloaded the song you asked about, some Sigur Ros, some EITS, and some Paul Kelly, all in the same day. Great music for when you're feeling introspective and wanna tune out the world, wander around in the cold and look at the Christmas lights in the city.

Smart planning, my friend. How much does you computer cost? Your car?

A few years back I spent 2 months traveling the US by bike. Cost me a pretty penny, but I spent an entire year saving. Trust me, it was way better than two years worth of a brand new car.

Okay, but you're missing both my points:

1.) Adventure Travel doesn't have to be expensive. If you can save up $3000, you can probably travel for 2 months in SE Asia (including r/t flight) if you are wise with your money.

2.) Even if it is "expensive" (because that's always relative), all you have to do is prioritize your expenditures for a while. I know people who complain about not being able to do any traveling, but they drive new cars and go out drinking every night. Again, it's all relative.
