I need two songs that represent the American Dream. House, children, good job, successful life, that kinda stuff. Anyone know of some good songs that represent that?

Highway To Hell -- AC/DC

Living easy, loving free
Season ticket on a one-way ride
Asking nothing, leave me be
Taking everything in my stride
Don't need reason, don't need rhyme
Ain't nothing I would rather do
Going down, party time
My friends are gonna be there too

I'm on the highway to hell (x4)

No stop signs, speed limit
Nobody's gonna slow me down
Like a wheel, gonna spin it
Nobody's gonna mess me around
Hey Satan, payin' my dues
Playin' in a rocking band
Hey Momma, look at me
I'm on my way to the promised land

I'm on the highway to hell (x4)

Don't stop me

I'm on the highway to hell (x8)

And I'm going down
all the way
on the highway to hell

"Cheeseburger in Paradise".

On a side note, the American Dream is nothing more than smoke and mirrors. Many aspire to it, but few succeed. The truth is that most money is already tied up by the wealthy and they aren't going to give it up without a revolution.

Why don't you take it a step further and take a song that's about the dissatisfaction of the common man? That in itself could embody the freedom of speech.

Did you ever listen to the lyrics in that song???

That's perhaps the best example of the opposite you could choose!

John Mellencamp Pink Houses

There?s a black man with a black cat
Living in a black neighbourhood
He?s got an interstate runnin? through his front yard
You know, he think, that he?s got it so good
And there?s a woman in the kitchen cleanin? up the evening slop
And he looks at her and says: hey darling, I can remember when you could stop a clock

Chorus:
Oh but ain?t that america for you and me
Ain?t that america we?re someting to see baby
Ain?t that america, home of the free
Little pink houses for you and me

Well there?s a young man in a t-shirt
Listening to a rockin? rollin? station
He?s got a greasy hair, greasy smile
He says: lord, this must be my destination
?cuz they told me, when I was younger
Boy, you?re gonna be president
But just like everyting else, those old crazy dreams
Just kinda came and went

Chorus:
Oh but ain?t that america for you and me
Ain?t that america we?re someting to see baby
Ain?t that america, home of the free
Little pink houses for you and me

Well there?s people and more people
What do they know know know
Go to work in some high rise
And vacation down at the gulf of mexico
Ohhh yeah
And there?s winners, and there?s losers
But they ain?t no big deal
?cuz the simple man baby pays for the thrills,
The bills and the pills that kill

Chorus:
Oh but ain?t that america for you and me
Ain?t that america we?re someting to see baby
Ain?t that america, home of the free
Little pink houses for you and me

Oh but ain?t that america for you and me
Ain?t that america we?re someting to see baby
Ain?t that america, home of the free
Little pink houses for you and me

Ludacris F. Nate Dogg-Area Codes

[Nate Dogg]
[chorus]
I've got hoes
I've got hoes, in different area codes (area, area codes..codes)
hoes, hoes, in different area codes (area, area codes..codes)

[Ludacris]
Now you thought I was just 7-7-0
And 4-0-4, I'm worldwide bitch, act like yall don't know
It's the abominabol "O" man
Globe-trot international post man
Neighbor-dick dope man
7-1-8s, 2-0-2's
I send small cities and states I-O-U's
9-0-1, matter fact 3-0-5
I'll jump off the d-4, we can meet outside
So control your hormones and keep your drawers on
'Til I close the door and I'm jumping your bone
3-1-2, 3-1-3, 2-1-5, 8-0-3
Read your hor-o-scope and eat some hor-derves
Ten I pump one these hoes is self serve
7-5-7, 4-1-0, my cell phone says overload

[chorus]

[Ludacris]
Now everyday is a hol-i-day
So stop the violence and put the 4-4 away, keeps you to hold today
5-0-4, 9-7-2
7-1-3, whatcha gon do
You checkin up the scene, I'm checkin a ho tonight
With perpendicular vehicular homicide
3-1-4, 2-0-1
Too much green, too much fun
I bang cock in Bangkok
Can't stop, I turn and hit the same spot
Think not, I'm the thrilla in Manilla,
Schlong in Hong Kong
Pimp em like vision, magic Don Juan
Man after Henny with a coke and a smile
I just pick up the muthafuckin phone and dial
I got my condoms in a big-ass-sack
I'm slaggin this dick like a New Jack, biatch

[Nate Dogg]
Is it cuz they like my gangsta walk?
Is it cuz they like my gangsta talk?
Is it cuz they like my handsome face?
Is it cuz they like my gangsta ways?
Whatever it is, they love it
And they just won't let me be
I handle my biz, don't rush me
Just relax and let me be free
Whenever I call, come running
2-1-2 or 2-1-3
You know that I ball, stop frontin
'For I call on something to free

[chorus]

[Ludacris]
9-1-6, 4-1-5, 7-0-4
Shout out to the 2-0-6
Everybody in the 8-0-8
2-1-6, 7-0-2, 4-1-4
3-1-7, 2-1-4, 2-8-1
3-3-4, 2-0-5, I see ya
3-1-8, 6-0-1, 2-0-3
8-0-4, 4-0-2, 3-0-1
9-0-4, 4-0-7, 8-5-0
7-0-8, 5-0-2
And different area codes..

Money isnt everyones dream. I simply wish to live comfortably with my family when the time comes. I wouldnt mind having loads of money, and im going to work hard to get some, but money isnt entirely what I meant. I meant having a stable job so you can live comforably, having a good family an dliving a fulfilling life.

I agree with everything you said. You might want to look around and notice how many people have a "stable" job these days, though. They are becoming very hard to find, even for professionals. Businesses are going more and more for temps and contractors.

I hope your dream comes true and doesn't turn into a nightmare.
