I really like Counting Crows cover of Joni Mitchell's 'Big Yellow Taxi' (They Paved Paradise). It's not the original, but very nice nonetheless.

Me First and the Gimme Gimmies - just about everything they cover
Goldfinger - 99 Red ballons

These are the exact two things I was thinking. Country Roads by MMATGG's is awesome! As with almost all their other songs

I like their cover of Rocket Man from Elton John

I recommend the Fugees version of this song...still listen to it at least once a week - awesome!

no no its not

So you think G&R's cover of a Dylan song is better than the original, but Hendrix's is not?
WTF?

Ugh, I can't stand that version. Amy Grant's was better, but still not as good as Joni Mitchell's.

Actually, I heard Richie Havens claim that he actually showed it to Dylan.

I think every version of that song sucks big time. I was surprised that Counting Crows made a cover, I was thinking why would they make a cover of a crappy song.
That is one song I just can not listen to, I will go out of my way to change the radio station to avoid that song.

Yup, I actually think about 60% of the songs on the unpulged ablum are covers.

Yes, that's the correct title... But there's just no emotion in UKJ's version. Croche inserts his heart and soul into that classic.

Minor details, but Harry Chapin did the original.

Didn't Cat Stevens cover it?

I don't think he did but he *may* have. I think it is actualy just a popular misconception because of the name "Cat Stevens" and then the name of the song "Cats in the Cradle" people assume Cat Stevens had something to do with it.

Primus - Have a Cigar

They've done a few other Pink Floyd covers, all of them I've heard were live. Not only is the band great but they double as a great Floyd cover band, sounds almost like the original.

Sorry, but to me there's absolutely no cover version or remixes that can match the original by Bob Marley. It is my all time favorite Bob Marley song, BTW.

That's what I was thinking. I was also thinking of the various covers of Little Wing but can't think of one that is better...just different.

Correct. Chapin actually outdid his original studio version of the song with one of the live version I listened to. One of the most heartfelt song I ever listened to. Chapin himself is a class act. He wanted to die pennyless, so he gave all his money to charity.

Sometimes I prefer Stevie Ray Vaughan's covers of Little Wing and Voodoo Chile simply because they are longer. Little Wing especially, Hendrix's is too damned short.

My favorite cover of that one is Sting's.

How about Istanbul (Not Constantinople) by They Might Be Giants? Or Why Does The Sun Shine by TMBG also?
