Um, I think you're in the minority there. This is the first song I thought of when I saw this thread.

BTW - P Diddy sux and so does his abortion of Missing You. Anything by Diana Ross > anything by Puff Diddy or whatever his name is today.

Phil Collins? Noooooooooooooooo! I can't stand Phil after he and Genesis seemed to release albums about 3 months apart when I was in high school.

I believe Quiet Riot covered Cum On Feel the Noize - original by Slade???

Totally agree on Blowin' in the Wind - great cover.

I also liked Tool's version of No Quarter. Someone else mentioned it in this thread and while I'll agree it's great my nod goes to the original and I'm a HUGE Tool fan.

Speaking of Tool - that new A Perfect Circle CD full of covers is terrible. It's a perfect justificaiton for downloading songs before buying the CD. Oh, and it's still better than anything by P Daddy!

EDIT: I forgot to mention Eric Cartman's cover of the original Styx song, "I'm sailing away". (kidding )

The Smashing Pumpkins/Billy Corgan - Landslide (Fleetwood Mac)
New Found Glory - Everything I Do, I Do It For You (Bryan Adams)
Less Than Jake - Cheers Theme

Awesome but not better than original:
Radiohead - Wish You Were Here (Pink Floyd)
The Get Up Kids - Close To Me (The Cure)
The Smashing Pumpkins - You're All I've Got Tonight (The Cars)

What about "The House of the Rising Sun" by the animals. (dylan originally?)

Bzzt, leadbelly, Still a damn good track, if you want to understand blues or blues influenced music, you need to start with Leadbelly and Robert Johnson, just follow along from there.

I need a music service where I can just pull down all the covers and compare them. I want to listen tothe same song by 7 different artists and learn how they changed or improved on it . Sounds fun.

Oh and although I can't argue whether they are better or not, I really like when Punk bands cover other songs. Because punk bands usually do the biggest 'spin' on a song, never attempting to stay anywhere near the original outside of lyrics. I really want to hear the Boney M. cover, because Boney M. is really fun music to listen to.

Phish - Gin&Juice. (People have told me that it is actually the String Cheese Incident that performs this. Most people say Phish though so thats what I posted).

Matchbox Twenty used to cover Time after Time by Cindy Lauper...I personally thought they made that song a lot better considering the original.

This is neither Phish nor String Cheese Incident. It is a band called the Gourds; they are from Austin, Texas I believe. Get your $h!t straight.
