Excellent. I have used one for about a year now. By far the best toothbrush available.

Electric toothbrushes are very beneficial for those with limited manual dexterity. However you can acheive the same results with your manual toothbrushes. All the manual toothbrushes on the market are essentially the same; one does not have a significant advantage over the next one. Just get one that allows you to reach the back of your mouth and get one with softbristles. Do the modified bass technique: place the brush 45 degrees to your teeth and push hard enough so that the bristles fan out. Don't push too hard or you will abrade your teeth unecessarily. Brush in a circular motion going from teeth to gums and covering about 2 teeth at one time. Do this a couple times and then move onto the next 2-3 teeth. Also remember to floss everyday. When you floss pull out 18 inches or so of floss. Use a sawing motion to get the floss b/w your teeth. Push down into the gums until you feel it against the gums. Wrap the floss around the tooth and use a couple up and down motions to floss. When against both teeth, floss them both. Have fun.

I know alot of people with Sonicares, I've had them since they came out 4-5 years ago. All the people at my dentist use them (and sell them at cost which is $55-ish), most of my coworkers have them, all of my family have them. Not one has regreted it. Even some really cheap bastids at work, who wont spring for a birthday card for their own mother (true), found the sonicare to be a great deal.

first off, the 'sonic' part foams your toothpaste and actually makes the toothpaste work 10x better. it massages your gums (good) and actually removes tartar in places you cant reach easily. You only have to use it on the front of your teeth because the toothpaste will foam between the teeth and the sonic part works the other side of the teeth.

All I can say is that in 4 years, I havent spent more than 10 mins in a dentist chair. I go in for my 6 month checkup, there is nothing to scrape. They polish, I bust out of there.

Over the years, I've found that I really only need to use it 3x or so a week. So, I brush normally, then every few days use the sonicare to 'catch up'. works great for me. it leaves your teeth like you just left the dentist office. Trust me, you will be able to tell.

I really dont think Sonicares are anything like other electric toothbrushes. They do something you simply cant do, occilate your hand at 20000 rpm. Can you have good dental hygene without one? absolutely. But, if youre getting scraped during cleaning in the dentist chair, I think you'd love a Sonicare. If they arent finding anything to scrape, then you probably brush 10 mins a day and dont drink soda and prolly dont need a sonicare.

As far as a deal? Well, $60 can save you a TON in dental bills down the road. I paid $120 for my Sonicare (before my dentist used/sold them), and didnt regret it at all.

I could never tell the difference between SoniCare and CyberSonic. Which one is better? One of them even has a new model out like CyberSonic 2 or SoniCare 2.

Is it better to just get the toothbrush here for $60, so pay the normal $100 that comes with lifetime head replacements and all those attachments for flossing and toungue cleaning?

Bump for good oral hygiene

Also check out Costco - twin pack (two heads, two rechargeable bases, one recharger usnit, one travel case) something like $98 if I recall.

Twin packs of replacement heads are $17 too.

According to Tpware's review you won't need to floss and you can use the brush on your tongue, although, not if it's attatched to anything else. I'm not a dentist though and I never said don't floss. I was just very impressed with my trial version and I'm upgrading to the real thing.

You always need to floss. Your toothbrush cannot get into and clean the interproximal contact (where your teeth touch) nor get between the interdental papilla and your teeth to clean the col. Therefore you always need to use floss. Floss is not used simply to remove bits of food stuck between your teeth but to remove plaque which cause gingivitis. If you haven't flossed in a while and start to, don't stop if you see bleeding. The bleeding is not due to flossing but due to the inflammation that is caused by the bacteria there. As you continue to floss, the bleeding will go away.

Both Linens & Things and Bed, Bath, & Beyond have these at that price and they always have 20% off coupons. Sunday paper today (Seattle Times) had one in the A section, and the other had an ad with the coupon. I forget which was where though.

But basically, $48 + tax.

My dentist says that electric tooth brushes are really bad for your gums, they actually slowely strip your gums and leave the base of your teeth exposed .. always use a regular SOFT brush only .. and floss EVERYDAY

My dentist recommeneds a good electric toothbrush so I bought the SoniCare.. I thought I was getting a good deal at $80 at Costco a year ago. I love it! Everyone I know loves it and I've never heard of any dentists saying they are bad...

False statement
eletric toothbrush is actually better for your gum and doesn't abrade your teeth around the neck (cemental enamel junction)

If you push the electric toothbrush too hard against your gumline, then yes, I hear it will strip your gums.
I believe the Sonicare manual even makes a point to not apply too much pressure...only enough so that the bristles are lightly touching your teeth/gums.

Consumer Reports tested electric toothbruses, and said that none were able to clean any better than a manual toothbrush.

Whether a dentist recommends electric toothbrushes or not, it seems most all of them prefer a standard, no-frills toothbrush for themselves. I'm told electric toothbrushes are beneficial mainly to those who have horrible manual brushing technique.

the sonic toothbrushes are in a very distinct category of electric toothbrushes because of the speed they vibrate at, makes all teh difference, this isnt like those $10 rotating head toothbrushes you see in your drug store, these are pretty good! worth it..

I used to get calcium build up between my teeth. They call this "calculus" (sp?) Which is kind of funny.. but i guess i'm probably just spelling it wrong. That's what it sounds like though. Anyway, that stuff would develop between my teeth and it's really solidified calcium. I never even knew what it was before because I thought it was just part of my teeth. It's a different white color than my teeth. Soon enough, the gaps in between my teeth were filled. (like the gap in the lower front two teeth.) Over time though, you don't notice and i just thought that they were my teeth. no matter how much i brushed witha manual toothbrush, it'd eventually fill back up. I'd have to floss VIGOROUSLY to try and pry it out. it'd be like trying to scrape out cement with a rope. lol.. i'd get this "calculus" buildup within 3 days. my dentist took forever using a metal hook to scrape that crap out

but after getting the sonicare, i used it everyday and i could immediately tell that it would build up far less. i wouldn't get calculus buildup between my teeth anymore, even over a week or two. i mean it builds up slightly once in a while. the sonicare isn't a complete cure for it. but damn, it sure made me a believer by making a significant difference. i recently saw my dentist again and he barely had to scrape anything out. that's hella good if you ask me

sonicare has a thumbs up from me

Everyone of our teeth is different, while consumer report's research is good, I think it depends on the individual.

I got my sonic care off ebay, and I can say that it makes my teeth whiter, and my gum no longer bleeds like when I used
manual brush. It is a small investment, but it pays for itself because it shortens your visit to the dentist!

Another positive side effect I noticed was a reduction in gumline sensitivity. You know when they scrape along the gunline, I used to be jumping about in pain, but that has really reduced. Also I used to leap about when anything that was vibrating came in contact with my teeth (drills, ultrasonic plaque tool). This also appears to have reduced.

The first week of using the sonicare was interesting tho - I remember using the Colgate sensitive toothpaste to get myself to be able to use the toothbrush!!

All better now tho. . . . . bump for Sonicare.
